https://shopquestar.com/shopping65/shopcontent.asp?type=News Over the past few weeks we've had on-going discussions with US State Department and I'm sorry to report that they are once again tightening export restrictions on a number of firearms and accessories. According to State Department there were a number of export permits approved this past year that "slipped through the cracks" and were NOT indicative of an intentional change in "Export Policy". New permits are once again being restricted in a similar way to what was happening a year or two ago. Here are a few examples of what the new Export Permits can NOT contain: Firearms chambering 5.56NATO or 7.62NATO ammunition Rifle Barrels under 16" Flash Hiders/Suppressors Folding, collapsing or telesoping stocks We've also been told (specifically) that the SCAR is considered a "military type firearm" and new export permits for this gun will NOT be approved. This will mean that existing inventories on many of these items will not be replenished so "get em while they last" is obviously something to keep in mind. We will keep you informed as we get more info but we expect to see shortages again on many of the most popular AR stuff due to these renewed restrictions. |

The movie Inception had the snow scenes filmed in Alberta... they also had what was probably the only SCAR to be inside Canada so far...

I know this is an old thread but just looked in this forum for some info... apparently no one has realized yet that SCARs are not really made in the USA, they are made in Belgium and imported into the US (in "import ban legal" configuration) then altered with some US made parts to meet the import ban parts count criteria.
So if you want a SCAR, get FN to import them from Belgium into Canada, should be far easier than dealing with moronic US import and export restrictions. |

One of the major retailers here has been trying to do just that, with no luck. |

DOD has money into the SCAR project, so it is consider US military property. |

But I thought the US was fueling gun violence on both borders surely you can just hop over the boarder and grab one and an RPG?

Sorry to necro-post, but I take it this ban means I couldn't bring my SCAR 16 into Canada if work forces my wife and I to move to Toronto? I just got through making a checklist of everything I'd have to do to own a firearm in Canuckistan and was feeling pretty optimistic until I read this thread!

The RCMP assigned a FRT(Firearms Reference Table) number to every firearm available for sale in Canada. The SCAR still hasn't been assigned one yet. Honestly just keep them down there and buy new one when you get here. You don't have to be a Canadian citizen to possess firearms in Canada. You just need to get your PAL(firearms license). There is alot of American citizens that own land and such in Canada that have firearms.

Just a good excuse to buy a new toy or two if we end up moving north, I guess.
