The family and I are in ocean city and went to the beach. When I finally got the nerve to dip my balls into the frigid NJ water, a life guard walked over and instructed us to move between a couple yellow flags. Between these yellow flags were probably 500 people packed ass to elbow. Replete with body boards flying all over the place. So I crouched, dipped, and went back to my beach chair.

I wasn't terribly shocked by this, it is nanny state NJ after all, but as I have not been to a NJ beach in over a decade I am curious, was it always this stupid?

Couple more exits south, and you would have ended up in Wildwood Crest. Great beaches, plenty of room.

I've seen them mark off areas that have jettys (sp?) underwater or areas where people can surf fish, surf and areas with high propensities for riptides.

Yeah ocean city was recommended by a few folks I know. They didn't mention the crowds of Philly trash.

We usually go to NC or SC beaches. We had a baby in Feb so we thought we would try staying closer.

Maybe Wildwood Crest next year, or back to the warmer waters of the south.

There was a jetty somewhat nearby. I guess that was it. But it seemed awfully dangerous to have all those people jammed into such a small space.
