What's he going to do about our sky-high property taxes?

"There's no signing ceremony on the deck of the battleship to solve this," Murphy said. "But the biggest step we can take is to grow our economy. If we can grow the economy aggressively, we can get our revenues the right way," and property taxes start to "melt away," at least, a bit.

He points to the successes of the Boston Redevelopment Authority in eastern Massachusetts, which has added 9,000 housing units in the last five years, and has 8,000 more under construction. That additional housing has helped lower rents.

"We need communities that work for millenials," he says, "I haven't met anybody who thinks they've got a fair deal (on their property taxes).

What he wants to see is growth such that "You pay your $13,000 a year in property taxes, but also say, 'Hey, I get a lot back for that.' Because nobody is saying that right now."

Some other interesting tid bits...

He was against the property tax cap.

Against the 2011 reforms.

Serves on the NAACP board.

Has no interest in cutting spending, but is interested in increasing spending but has no public plan to pay for it.

With a democrat back as governor there will be a full out assault on what's left of gun rights here in NJ, it's going to be bad.
