MILLTOWN – A Middlesex County sheriff's officer arrested several days ago on an aggravated assault charge has been arrested again – this time for illegal possession of an AR-15 assault rifle and nine loaded high-capacity magazines, authorities said Friday.
Neil Raciti was charged with possession of an assault weapon and possession of a high-capacity magazine, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.
"The nine magazine clips each were loaded with ammunition and could be used to load the rifle," a prosecutor's office spokesman stated in a news release.
Raciti has been a sheriff's officer for 14 years and a Milltown Councilman since 2013.
He was released after posting 10 percent of a $25,000 bond, authorities said.
