ROCHELLE PARK — A Route 17 traffic stop led borough police to discover a handgun loaded with hollow-point bullets and arrest two Virginia men, including one who showed a badge and lied about being an officer, authorities said Friday.

Officers found a Glock Model 22 .40-caliber handgun loaded with 15 hollow-point rounds in a backpack on the rear seat after getting permission to search the car, according to police. A black bag marked with “police” and $689 in small denominations, wrapped with rubber bands, were also seized in the stop.

The pair were each charged with possession of hollow-point bullets, possession of a handgun without a permit and possession of an assault firearm without being licensed to do so. Bail for Morris was set at $60,000.

OK, this is the part I'm not understanding. Charged with "Possession of an assault firearm". Since when is a Glock model 22 an "assault firearm"????? Is this some kind of a new law I missed???

What he was actually charged with VS what was written in the paper are two different things.
