Just wondering how well or poorly it works in your opinion(s) and what if anything you would change about it.

Works well.  Excellent service.

Things to change;  More doctors and nursing staff, less middle management and bean counting.  Also more effort in preventing exploitation and unnecessary demand.

We have a private healthcare system which runs alongside the NHS as well, if people chose to use it.

The Scottish NHS is adopting our (my company's) model of primary care.  A NHS honcho came to speak at our campus a few weeks ago about that.

I was having a conversation about the NHS with my brother just the other day and he made a very good point; selfishly we'd probably both be better off without it.  If there were no NHS, it would probably be the norm for people with decent jobs to be provided with health insurance through work. My brother used to work in IT for a top London football club and whenever he had the slightest niggle they would send him to top Harley Street specialists.  He obviously thought this was great but this would never happen on the NHS due to budget constraints.  The problem obviously comes if you're out of work, self employed, unable to work or retired, who's going to look after you then?

I only heard Farage say one sensible thing during his election campaign (apart from the gun laws) and that was that those who can afford it, should pay for private health care.  This sounds like a good idea to me, it would mean better care for those who can afford it and reduce strain on the NHS meaning better care for those who can't afford it.

I think everyone should pay for it, it would stop those benifit grabbing scumbags raping the system.
If your over weight here and un fit, smoke and drink and get all the medical illness to go with it why should us working folk pay for them ?
It boils my pi$$. I knew people in the past who would go on the sick just so they dont have to work.
Genuine working class people who have put in the system all there life should get a discount or something like that,
