After a great night shooting with Loog, and being made to feel really welcome at the club, I'm now looking in to getting some kit.

Which brings me to ear protection, Defenders, Cans, whatever you want to call them.
Looking at budget ranges at the moment, I don't think I'd need the electronic type.

I've seen the Deben compacts on ebay at around £10 - £20 for the padded ones, also like the Napier Pro10, but they look a tad weird.

So any recommendations for the around £0-£30 ish price range.

I'll take a look at the Peltor. My son has had a set of Peltor Kids since he was 1, he's now 5 and we still use them at all sorts of things, from watching F1 to fireworks etc.
I'd wear his, but they're illuminous green and have kids on the side

The quote above is what I always was told, and always told the younger lads when I worked with cars. It's definately something that I'm going to be getting, because it only takes something to happen and I'd regret not wearing them, so thanks I'll take a look at the Wiley X's

Also have a look at surefire EP3s if you fancy some budget plugs.

Some of the electronic Peltor ear defenders.

The downsides are:

Can be very obstructive if you're shouldering a rifle/shotgun quickly.
Uncomfortable to wear for extended periods in hot weather.
Mine sometimes have sound issues, such as ghosting, echoing, emitting a high pitched whining noise, etc.

Ideally you'd want some ear plus for occasions when the defenders are unsuitable. I just use the disposable ones and don't really know what to recommend for high-quality options. I will say some of the fancy ear plugs can be very uncomfortable if they don't fit your ear well.
