Dunno what's already on the interwebz so this might be redundant.

The situation here is that the Dutch.gov under our EU presidency (until 30 June 2016) are trying finalize the Eu firearms directive.

Normally firearms (under Dutch law) are handled by the Ministry of Justice. who are by no means pro guns but at least approach some things rationally some of the time. The EU thing is handled by the ministry of foreign affairs and they are a bunch of gun grabbers.who noramlly have nothing to do with guns.

Dutch proposals now are max. 20 round pistol mags and max. 10 round long gun. No FA for private collectors.

It's similar here. The government says one thing to the media and Parliament, and then they turn around and push gun-control at the EU level.

They're pushing for mag-cap limits, FA ban, and a ban on "evil" features, despite not having the authorization to do so by Parliament.

The bad thing here is that the EU part is beig handeled by a ministry that doesnt have anything to do with Dutch firearms law and is proposing stuff that we dont even have. The Italians seems to love this as wel from what I hear.

The text would be (amoungst other retarded stuff):

-herefore, semi-automatic firearms with a fixed loading device allowing to fire a high number of rounds, as well as semi-automatic firearm in combination with a removable loading device with a high number of rounds should be prohibited for civilian use. Such loading devices, such as fixed or detachable magazines, as well as feeding belts,  should also be prohibited. When individuals are found to be in the possession of such loading devices these should be seized, as well as any semi-automatic centre fire firearms to which these could be fitted, even if the possession of these firearms was authorised. These individuals should also be deprived from their authorisation.

- An authorisation to acquire and an authorisation to possess a firearm classified in category B of Annex 1 shall be withdrawn if the person who was granted the authorisation is found to be in the possession of a loading device which can hold more than 20 rounds and is apt to be fitted to a short centre fire semi-automatic firearm or of a loading device which can hold more than 10 rounds and is apt to be fitted to a long centre fire semi-automatic firearm.

Why don't y'all just hoist the black flag, spit in your hands, and start cutting throats? With all the protests about the Muslims it shouldn't take much to whip up a good frenzy and topple your tin horn dictators.

As much I would like to blame another country for our troubles, I think that the Dutch government (or fractions of the Dutch.gov) is just one cog in a machine that spans across Europe.

Each and every representative from the European Commission whatever his or her country of origin (Delseaux/BR, Alexis/FR, Bienkowska/PL) has been lying through their teeth to push all the typical anti-gun BS you get from gun grabbers.

Duplicity is a core value among most if not all governments.

Ok we are being fucked by the Dutch Presidency. French and Swiss (WTF?) seem to be on board as well from what I'm hearing.

"They include stricter rules on buying and owning automatic weapons, steps to stop deactivated guns being put back into use, and better tracing of trafficked weapons.

Dutch Justice Minister Ard van der Steur said Friday the result will be that "the risk of legal firearms finding their way to the illegal market is reduced.""
