They are great to have around.  They will eat rattlesnakes, so I'm told.  I would still squeal like a little girl and run away if I saw it.

Yup. All the benefits of rattlesnakes with none of the venom.

They WILL deliver a painful bite, though, if mishandled.

I found that to be true at a very early age.  Got bit on the back of my hand.  Hurt like hell.  One of his teeth broke off under the skin and I didn't realize it.  Woke up the next morning and my hand looked like a big red balloon.  The Doctor that treated me called me a 'brave little dumbass' for playing with it.  I stuck to messing with horned lizards after that.

My younger brother thought it'd be cute to have the snake my dad caught lick his nose. Snake latched on and wouldn't let go.

LB has been bitten by most every damned thing on the planet: dogs, horses, snakes, spiders...
