Are there any BLM/public land areas near Alamogordo that are generally used for target shooting?

Thanks

Dry canyon.  It is on 82, right before you get to the tunnel.  On the right side.

Seems awfully close to the highway, unless I'm missing something.

Its literally next to the highway, but you shoot the opposite direction into a huge mountain. I've only shot there once but can always hear everyone shooting there when I'm hunting around sunspot

+1.

I like that range for pistol and rimfire, but because of the shape of the hills it can be difficult to do any centerfire rifle shooting more than 150 yards so it's worth it to go to La Luz range.

Thanks, guys. I'll have to check out the La Luz range in the next week or so. The Dry Canyon spot seems iffy.
