Just thinking.....if you had an AR with a 16 inch barrel putting a 230 to 300 grain bullet downrange at 2000+ feet per second....with at least ten...maybe 15rounds in the mag.....would you consider it adequate for bear protection?

From what are you attempting to protect those bears? For what it is worth, I haven't ever questioned the efficacy of my FNFAL or my Garand to stop any threat short of a T Rex.
