u can also use ur water heater for water. but u MUST drain and flush it out 2 times a year. but its a lot of water sitting there that u can use.

Why flush it?  doesnt it cycle all out with use?

at the bottom of the tank can get built up with crud. so its always nice to flush it out 2 times a year. if u go out to ur water heater right now and run some water out the bottom u will see the color of it. not the best looking stuff.

i also made a rain barrel last year for the garden. its amazing how fast 55 gallons fills up when it just rains a little. i bought everything and it was less then $20. well worth it. if things went bad for a little while it would be a great way to get water to use. it would still need to be cleaned. bleach, boil or little pill looking things. there a lot of other ways as well to clean water. if it starts to rain the barrel fills up in less then 15-20 mins. i am going to put more in soon to have extra. are garden is below the barrel so it flows out pretty good.

the pawn shop by us had them. make sure u find them that had food type things in them. so there safe to drink from. i used plastic ones for outside. i cut a hole big enough to get my arm into in the top. then drilled a hole on the side towards the bottom. then get a hose bib from the store. it helps if u find one that comes with a nut. put the foucet (?) into the hole. then the hard part. u have to reach inside to put the nut and a washer on to keep it in place. i took some silicon and put it around both inside and out to seal it up tight for no leaks. then get the smallest screen u can find and put it over the top. this helps keep leaves and bugs out of the water. theywork great and there so easy to make. when drilling the side make sure u use a little smaller bit then the bib.

hope this helps some

As well as a way to help folks if it doesn't violate the rules.
