Question for you JPPS guys:

When do ya'll go on out? Is there a cost for non-members to "try out" the place? Are members allowed to bring guests? What distances are available? What targets are available? Is it worth the $$ to join?

Considering I currently pay $0.00 to noone and drive out to a local creek bed (off CR308), but the range is limited (about 50 yards if there is no water), I am usually up to my ankles in mud and there are snakes... I am just wondering about the possibilities.

Matches are every 2nd and 4th Saturday at 10AM.  Match setup starts at 9AM (always nice to get there early enough to help set up!).  First match is free for newbies.  Dues are $10 a month, payable either annually or semi-annnually and are prorated from January 1st.  Everybody, members or not are welcome to the matches, match fee is $10.  Non-members may not, however, access the range during non-match hours.  Once you join, you can bring non-members with you to shoot any time you want to.  We are working on a 100 yard dedicated rifle range, but for all practical purposes about 50 yards is the longest shot you can get right now.  If there is nobody else but you on the range, you can get a 100 yard shot but you have to set up your shooting position right at the gate.  Is it worth it?  Heck yes!!  The fellowship with a bunch of nice folks is worth a million dollars.  Having a safe, secure, private, convenient place to shoot 24-7 is worth a lot to me.  Having targets, pasters, steel plates, pepper poppers, target stands, sandbags, a pavillion, .22 silhouettes, a portable shooting bench, high berms all in one place and I don't have to haul all that crap out....priceless.  I promise that if you join, you'll be glad you did.  As a matter of fact, I will give a money back guarantee to any AR-15.com member.  Join up and I'll pay you $10 for every month that you don't have fun.  Beat that!

Check it out at www.fastdata.net/rgharrel/

Email the secretary at btrobert@cox(zooch).net

Heck, I'll take you up on that one.  Oh, I guess that since I am already a member (and Sec/Tres), I'll pass.

Thanks Steve.  Can you tell me of any other ranges in the area other than Hobbs.  That is where I have been going.
Link Posted: 5/9/2006 5:45:36 PM EDT
[#22]
Hobbs is about the best 100 yd range.  I usually go there if the weather isn't too bad or if it is not deer or turkey season.  Hobbs isn't very good for handguns, unless you like to shoot at 25 yds or take boxes to set up at closer ranges.

The other places I shoot are at Sturm's Range in Springdale.  25 yd pistol and 100 yd (I think) under ground concrete pipe rifle tubes.  Tremendous  concussion in the tubes when shooting large caliber rifles.  Not for the weak of heart.

Also at Ozark Sportsman  Supply, in Tontitown, they have an indoor 25 yd pistol and 50 yd rifle range.

I live in upstate New York now, but lived in NW AR from 1/90 to 10/03. last place I lived was Rogers, and spent a lot of time at Hobbs.

Any one know John Nivin? Lived in Fayetteville, shot at Hobbs(among other places), did some shopping at Ozark Armary II in Springdale. If you know him tell him JD from Superior is looking to see what he's up to.

Since according to the JPPS website there is a match on Sept 30, what would be the word on everybody available just meeting up there for a meet/greet?

It may be a chance for me to take the wife up on the offer to join then as well...

It would cost nothing to come out and watch.  Look for an old fat boy running things and introduce yourself to me.
