I shoot at least 2 times a month at competitions every month. During the warmer months I try to get out and do some live fire practice as well. During the colder months (like now) I do mostly dry fire as far as practice.
The multigun competitions held by Eastern Nebraska Practical Shooters (ENPS) at Eastern Nebraska Gun Club (ENGC) are a lot of fun and let you show off your rifle skills at least somewhat. I like to put in challenging shots to give people a hard time.
(Like one match where I put a headshot only target with just the the top half of the head showing and the rest of the target being a no shoot. LOTS of people got no-shoot hits on that one... They forgot their offset.
I also shoot the ENPS Steel Challenges with my S&W M&P15-22, as they recently started allowing rimfire rifles at this competitions. It's a LOT of fun! Even though I have a huge advantage, it's nice posting times faster than everyone else with a .22 rifle and an optic.
Other than that, I pretty much always shoot at ENGC. The membership isn't expensive, the ranges are awesome, and it's only about a 25-30 minute drive from Omaha.
