THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT The Wichita City Council passed an amendment to its open carry ordinance to comply with state law. Now gun owners will be able to carry a gun in the open as long as it's in a holster and on safety.
"I would look at it as a safety thing. With open carry, it's more of a safety issue to me then a right or something," said Bullseye Shooting Range owner Mike Relihan. The open carry law went into effect in Kansas in 2007. Wichita continued to ban it until this week when the Attorney General issued an opinion saying the city had to comply with state law.
And fuck you, Mike Relihan, cocksucker. Fuck Bulleyes Shooting Range. |

Out of curiosity, how do they consider a glock on "safety"? With there being no dedicated safety button/switch, do you all believe this will leave the door open enough for the politicians to sniff out some loop holes? |

Good question...I would assume it's good to go considering it does have a trigger safety. |

Glock would argue that their pistols have three safeties: the trigger safety, the firing pin safety, and drop safety. Yes, none of them are manual, but they do keep the gun "safe".
The trigger safety prevents the gun going off, unless you have a finger that covers at least half of the trigger.
The firing pin safety prevents the firing pin from going forward unless a plunger is depressed from the action of pulling the trigger. In addition to that, pulling the trigger does pull the firing pin back slightly which gives it the full power to strike the primer.
The drop safety ensures the firing pin does not move forward by blocking the lug until the trigger is fully depressed.
While some people prefer the manual safety for the extra security, especially with the single-action .45s, a lot of people would argue the best safety is simply not having your finger on the trigger - rely on your index point.
A safety is just that - something that keeps you safer. But, every safety - whether manual or not - are all man-made. Therefore, they HELP keep you safer, but can fail. Therefore, I'll rely on proper practice and a good mindset to keep me and my family safe. |

What was the open carry law of 2007?
Did that eliminate cities ability to preempt the state? |
