Tracfone worked very well for years. Makes you responsible for your usage also. Good coverage, just not the latest and greatest in cool phones.

Check for a phone service that has unlimited text and data since that's what she'll likely use most anyway. Data usage can soak up time quick.
Look at Smart Talk or Metro PCS if it's available. |
