Between needing medical care and splitting up with the missus, I'm considering getting out of Alaska for a while.  I can't leave state for medical treatment unless it is on my dime, so specialists outside are a no go.

It's been 7-8 years since I've been to the valley, let alone lived there.  I'll probably be looking for a room to rent come October ish provided my disability is approved or I have some kind of income.  The missus and I haven't officially split but it is looking very likely.  We agreed to give it another month to work out our issues, but I'd rather have a plan in place just in case.

Any thoughts guys?

Hell no.  I'd end up pimped out for ammo to use on his belt fed.  Nobody wants to see a fat guy in a gimp suit

I've heard stories about you guys on Kodiak, especially the Coast Guard guys and their affinity for tying stuff up.

If there were a decent amount of docs, I'd actually consider it though.  Same with Juneau.  Lived here 27 years and I've never been to either.

Damn, sorry to hear about the wifey.  The valley is certainly cheaper for rent than Anch.  If you can find the docs in the valley, and don't have to deal with the commute into town, that would seem like the best bet, economically.

Stay strong, brother

Nothing is set in stone.  We kind of just agreed that if we can't fix it, would be better to part as friends instead of having a long drawn out thing.  Considering we've been together since high school, would be nice.  Mostly just getting backup plans going.

Big thing is I'll need to find an endo and neuro.  Fairbanks doesn't have any endos that I know of, and the only neuro I can think of are kind of spotty.

Will do  If I go, I'm probably going to sell as much as I can up here before hand and go minimalist for the move anyhow.  Hoping it won't come to it, but an argument a day isn't ideal for fixing things.  At least my final appointment for disability is Tuesday.  Should have a approve/deny by the first if all goes well.

I rent out some apartments.  Drop me an email a month before and I'll tell you what's out there, and do what I can.

Thanks guys, and will do Jim.  I'm hoping this is just unneeded planning but we'll see.

Depending on how minimal you are going, living in the most of the Valley would pretty much require a vehicle to get to MDs, I would think. Just something to think of.
