Some info from AK Outdoors Shooters (which closed the thread as they are not a 2A forum):
http://forums.outdoorsdirectory.com/showthread.php/133095-Birchwood-Range-goes-anti-gun!
The Giffords & Kelly Fail Parade went and visited Alaska to put pressure on our Senators (Begich-D, Murkowski-R) who are both soft on the 2A but voted the right way last go around.
Some articles about it:

They went to
Birchwood. There's a picture of Kelly shooting a 10/22 (originally captioned as a "high powered rifle" and now captioned as a "hunting rifle") at our range.
On Mondays & Tuesdays, access is limited to members only; guests require approval of the board. Mark Kelly and a media team (possibly ADN?) visited at 0715 local. The Board is claiming they did not give permission. See post from AKMilSurp (allegedly Dave Arieno, President of AMGA)
here:
"TO All, I'm one of the 7 members on the BRSP BOD. I'm also President of the Alaska Machinegun Association , AND A Benefactor Life Member of the NRA. Frankly, I can't abide with Anti-gun folks, and I wouldn't PEE on the Gifford's if they were on fire. You can rest assured the other members of the board have a similar outlook. I can EMPHATICALLY STATE that the "Gifford Visit" WAS not, I repeat WAS NOT a Board Sanctioned event!! We are currently investigating the facts, and will definitely do our best ensure this doesn't occur again. According to the ADN article, and reports form other EPM who were onsite at the time.. (7:15 AM -- when almost no one would be onsite) One "Anders Gustafson" who we believe is an EPM escorted these folks and their media entourage onto BRSP property. We have the ability to track gate access with EPM cards, so we can verify this. If so, he is in violation of Range directives, as the Giffords and their entourage were NOT in possession of valid EPM Guest Passes. Board was not notified of the Gifford "visit" until it was almost over, and as stated above we're are NOT pleased."
They did find 11 Alaskans (all of whom agreed with their agenda) to dine with at the Captain Cook (swanky high rollers, I guess). Here's an account from one of them from the same thread over at AK Outdoors forum:
Here's the deal
I was called out of the blue by the PR firm arranging the Giffords trip.
They got my name from a 5th generation Alaskan I have known for over 20 years ( since long before AK BHA) with whom we were mutually acquainted.
There was no AK BHA connection.
I was invited to participate in a discussion with mark Kelly and his wife at the Captain cook with what was described as a "diverse group of alaskan gun owners".
As gun legislation is a concern to me I accepted the invitation and flew on my own dime to anchorage where I stayed with a friend.
I met the other participants the next day in a conference room at the hotel. I was introduced to them by first name, I believe most of them were from anchorage with the exception of one or two from the dillingham area. . The group included LEO's, a couple NRA life members, a couple crusty old timers, a teacher, and others, and in my opinion it WAS a diverse group.
The meeting was about 45 minutes, and the topic was almost exclusively centered around how background checks could be made more effective specifically to make it harder for violent offenders and the mentally ill to legally acquire firearms.
I went representing only myself, and was not there as a member of any organization, nor was the invitation extended to me as such.
BHA is a hunting and fishing conservation organization and has no position on ANY "gun control" issues or legislation.
Happy Fourth of July.
Some lessons learned, potentially:
1) The heat is still on. We have a LOT of naive people in the "swing" states on this issue like Alaska. Because the state is so good on 2A issues, many Alaskans have no idea what the magnitude of the threat is, and they still believe in the good faith of our political opponents. The truth is that our political adversaries want us dead or in prison. Just look at the language of Schumer's "Universal Background Check" bills, the failed AWB verbiage, or what is going on in the Ban States. They would hoist the black flag in a moment and burn AR-15 owners out of their homes (well, they'd probably order SWAT to do it -- I don't see Mark Kelly or Mayor Bloomberg getting their hands dirty) if they thought they could get away with it.
2) Range education. Just having a safety SOP is not enough anymore. There need to be some policies and engagement on things like media access to the ranges. We and our facilities are being USED. The antis will find the weak or naive link. In this case, the person that took them to the range is involved in some lefty environmental causes which I suspect is how they got the phone number. I'm not intending to drag us into the Pebble Mine debate here, and I support a bunch of environmental causes in Alaska too; I'm just saying that it is a rolodex for the gun control folks to use when they need access to our facilities for a photo op. I hate to shut down media involvement, but we need to (A) conduct ourselves like we are always being covertly recorded and (B) control celebrity PR access to our facilities so that our side gets presented too. After all, they don't have an anti-gun range to go to, so they must use ours. They should be using our facilities on our terms which should include presenting the pro-freedom side of the issue.
Additionally, with range policies in place and posted, it sets the stage for legal action to be taken against antis when they abuse the policy. If nothing else, it allows the antis to be "trespassed" and removed from the property if necessary.
