THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Delta allows 11lbs per person and I'll have 3 people traveling, so I can get a decent amount. So what's the going rate for .45,.40 and 9mm ammo and good places to pick up ammo in Anchorage and Fairbanks? |

Not much help with exact prices. I'm all packed up for a PCS, Driving from Anchorage to El Paso next Saturday. I only buy factory stuff, but there are a couple dealers of re-man or small company ammo(Sheep-Dog) in town if you are looking for it.
The last ammo I bought was a couple months ago, but for junky factory 9mm your cheapest bet is Walmart with the 250 round Rem UMC value packs at $61. Walmart also has 250 round UMC .38Spcl at $70. 3 Walmart options near Anchorage. For quality self defense ammo, hands down the best price and options are at Northern Security on Old Seward. Can't quote the price right now, but they are the best I've seen for 50 round gold dot boxes and the only dealer I've seen of HST. They also have the best price around on American Eagle 158Gr .38(<$20) and 158Gr .357. Real nice people in there that cater towards the LEO crowd. May not have much in the way of bulk stuff for you. Other places for cheap factory ammo I've seen are 3 Bears on Palmer/Wasilla Highway, but that will be a drive for you. The PX on Elmendorf has sucky prices, but their Blazer 10mm is usually between 28-32 a box. |

Re checked my itenerary, I am flying Alaska, ammo weight is covered. It's a business trip, so flight cost isnt an issue either.
Still looking for good places to pick up ammo since I will only be in both spots for 2 days with very limited time. Looks like I'll stick with Walmart and talk to locals when I'm there. |

I would still go to Sportsmens Warehouse and look too. Right across the street from the Wal Mart on Old Seward. Sometimes you can find a decent deal.
