THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I call the contact number to ask why he has no party affiliation on his campaign literature. The candidate answers, "Oh, that's an interesting question! Most voters in our district have no party affiliation. The Republican candidate doesn't advertise his affiliation. If I had a DUI, I wouldn't advertise it."
"Oh, so you are saying being a Democrat is akin to having a DUI?"
"No, no I don't mean that at all!"
Long story short, he is a Democrat who wants to win but knows Alaskans are mostly Republicans, so he has to be a crypto-liberal.

I thought you lived in 'midtown,' that Bolshevik stronghold that keeps electing Democrats.
If having (D) next to your name meant (DUI), Democrats wouldn't be winning races statewide and nationwide. Good story! Back in Nunaka Valley in the late 70's, a candidate going door to door tried to avoid identifying hiimself as a Democrat, too. Mom just said she woudln't vote for him as he was just too young. |
