Noticed this hasn't been posted before.

On 08-23-2011, the Hawaii Defense Foundation filed a lawsuit aganist Honolulu Chief of Police Louis Kealoha, the Honolulu Police Department, the City and County of Honolulu, the State of Hawaii, and Governor Neil Abercrombie for civil rights violations of the Second and Fourteenth Amendments of the US Constitution due to the current "may issue" CCW system not allowing non-prohibited HI residents the ability to defend themselves.

In. Good luck Hawaii!
I am purely evil;
Hear the thrum
of my evil engine;
Evilly I come.
The stars are thick as flowers
In the meadows of July;
A fine night for murder
Winging through the sky.

This is gonna take a while guys, but don't get your hopes up. This is going to sound pessimistic, but realistic:

You have a better chance of National CCW passing the Senate and having Obungo to sign off on it before some court full of Locals in Hawaii sign off that the may issue system is unconstitutional. Since Hawaii does have a permit system it would have to honor out of state permits, and there is no way the 400lb local guys are going to give up that "Advantage".

Whats sad is that I'm sure guys like Daniel Oshima and the pricks at Magnum will probably show up on TV saying how this is bad for Hawaii and tourism and safety and...yeah....Daniel does alot to support the 2A but it really wouldn't surprise me with the attitude he gives all his customers.

I just read in SGN that national CCW MAY actually pass. The bill is coming along and the author says dems won't vote against it because they know it's bad for votes.
Since Hawaii "has" ccw (I used quotes because there is a provision in the law, but we all know they NEVER issue them) it would meen that anyone with a CCW can carry there. That'd be interesting. If Hawaii is so anti-gun they'll have to promptly get rid of their CCW law all together.

Interesting times we live in. I would love to see all the exploding liberal heads if that should ever come to pass.

Looks like nothing going on until 3/21/12 when Judge Kay is going to be available according to the court docket.

Great! That means I'll be able to keep my Ruger LCP in my back pocket even when I go back to visit home! :) Although, it isn't really necessary to have one in my pocket in Lihue, Kauai. Man I LOVE how safe it is over there! Don't lock my car or house. It will still be nice though, and hopefully allow for all of you Hawaiian residents to have your 2nd amendment rights given to you :)

Well, things didn't go as we had hoped. The May HRA newsletter outlines what happened (page 3).

Long story short, the Brady Campaign sunk the suit and the NRA didn't do anything to help.
