Bought this the night she was born. She's finally bigger than the gun, and able to recite the safety rules. Got her on paper right away, then found a couple clay targets. Set them on the 35 yard berm and she was able to break both of them. Already asking when I'll take her again.

is that one of those Cricket rifles?
I bought one at one point in time from someone that was hard up for $50 ended up giving it to a guy so he could do the same thing as you teaching is daughter to shoot. I have been looking at one of those savage rifles to pickup for when my son is old enough. as I do not see the crickets around as much anymore

Yep it's a Cricket. The Savage came out about a year after I bought this one-or at least, became well known at that time.

I actually want to get another one. I found out when I bought this one the date of manufacture is stamped on the receiver. This one was bought the night she was born, I'd like to find one made the day she was born too.

Great story! I really love hearing stories about one generation teaching the other like this. Especially when there's a back story like this one. I can't wait until my little ones prove they're ready.

I'm willing to bet she'll need a .22 pistol sometime within the next 6-8 months...

She's already asking. My wife has a dedicated 1911 in .22 that she "appropriated" from me. She didn't like .45 so I bought a Ciener conversion. She shot 15 rounds and decided it was her gun-so I built it up on its own frame-and added pink Hogue grips to match the Cricket.

She asked when she gets to shoot "Mom's gun".

This thread makes me happy.  I look forward to contacting legislators this spring so that she can shoot "Mom's gun" soon.

Thanks for posting.

Mason City Walmart has them for $114.

ETA-confirmed today. Both black and pink stock available, only pink on display.

Should have mentioned, Mom was there too, she took the pictures and did some shooting of her own. Overall a fun afternoon.

Nice,  OP. Dad/daughter time is a premium you don't want to miss out on. Both mine tell their friends about their future gun inheritance constantly.

Last I saw, both Gander and Dicks Sporting goods sold those Cricket rifles, although at a higher cost than Walmart, Im sure.
