My wife and I rounded up a stray this weekend that was wandering through Ft. Des Moines Park with a chewed/faux chewed tether and pads worn off its feet by the concrete.  He was a really big, neutered, well groomed, friendly dog that we assumed had been scared by the fireworks.

After following up on rabies tags numbers, a microchip (that was never registered), running craigslist ads, and driving around to find posters, we figured out who the owner was.

Turns out, making it look like the dog chewed through his leash and letting it go was her way of abandoning the dog. It has become very apparent She had hoped that whoever found it would keep it.

What a lowlife, and what a crappy charade.

Tomorrow morning our friendly houseguest is moving to the ARL.  Hopefully he will find the type of family he deserves.  He definitely has the temperment to have a shot at it.

Owner is Britany Diveley.

I already have four animals in the house; more would do them all a disservice.

Good for you! I like dogs and cats more than I like people. I see you might feel the same way. Thank you!!!

Good on you for helping.  It has about a hundred percent chance at ARL.
