Does anyone know the proper procedure for putting together a legal homemade suppressor? I want to make my own but do not wish to have any "issues" does a design have to be submitted? can any work at all other than design begin before paperwork and stamp is in hand.

I was just reading that thread. It brings more questions to mind. I may be better off spending the money for a ready made.

I bought all mine, don't know anything about making them. Can't help any more than the link. If you have questions, ask them there.

You would have to submit a Form 1 but you do not need to submit any plans or drawings. You need to put a caliber and the length(you can be shorter just not longer). While this site is awesome you should check out silencertalk.com if you plan to make one yourself. A lot of good info and measurements for all different calibers. AR15.com's silencer section does not go into as much detail.

There is a whole board dedicated to that found here.  There are some nice kits that only need boring out for your particular round.  Think drill press or lathe.  Simple on either one.
