Just seems like yesterday when I heard the doctor say it's a girl as he held her up over the surgical curtain for us to quickly see. My wife was squeezing my hand and crying and all that was going through my head was what my best friend told me while my wife was pregnant..."if you have a boy you only have to worry about ONE penis, if you have a girl you have to worry about ALL of them". Needless to say I smiled at my wife and did not tell her what I was thinking.
Celebrated today by my wife and I taking her out to eat for breakfast then came back to the house and finished cleaning it up for the family birthday party later today and then having her friends sleep over here tonight. After cleaning the house I presented her with a pink laminated stock Ruger 10/22 for her birthday and she was thrilled to actually receive her pink rifle that her and I have been talking about for years. I waited so long that she'd outgrown the pink stocked Chipmunk style single-shot .22lr rifle that we were originally looking at 6+ years ago and when I seen this rifle on the rack I new this was a better fit for her and something she can shoot for a long time to come.
Our normal shooting area is still too wet to access on the farm so we went over to CCA and Michael graciously allowed us to shoot a few rounds through her new 10/22 and her AR pistol in .22lr she received last year. Yes, I actually blew the dust off a couple boxes of my .22lr ammo and let her shoot without me going through ammo withdrawals and shaking uncontrollably at the site of an empty ammo box.
