Ok dudes and ladies.  There was talk about another 3 gun shoot or something similar.  People wanted to meet up and have a good time.  This is what I want to do.  If you don't like the idea that is cool I can do it by myself up here but I would love to run some people through it and have it be a thing that is worth showing up for.  This doesn't take the place of some kind of competition or 3 gun event or good time related to that.  I wanna have a gunfighter shoot the bad guys based shoot.

Key concepts that are in my head.
One stage that people might be able to get more than one run through.  
Two guns pistol and rifle.  a shot gun may be used for a breach.
Moderate round count maybe up to 60-90 rounds of rifle and up to 60 rounds of pistol.
Lots of targets many in close idpa type targets in close as you are forced to move from area A to area B for a stated reason.
Timed event that is for bragging rights and champion status only
No prize the prize is finishing and finding faults.
Gucci gear isn't needed.  You will be able to do this with a pocket full of mags and an iron sighted rifle.


Basic run and gun shoot that will beat you up.  If you get to a point where you don't want to attempt the course at that point no worries say hell no and be walked around it by the safety.  I am not talking spartan race type electrocution and mud pits although it will likely get muddy knowing this is Iowa.  I would love to see something like this happen with CCA aid as they are always extreme supporters of shooting guns and 2A in general.  Another place could work too if someone has the ability to make it happen.  

Lets stop complaining about it not happening and make it happen.  If you don't wanna run the course and just hang out hell yea.  If you wanna talk guns or fix guns or touch guns then that is cool too but I see a lot of guys buying up guns and gear and ammo and never getting much more than some square range time.  I want to put people out of the comfort zone.  I want people to shoot slightly tired or out of breath and in situations that can and do happen in the real world.  


stuff like this that makes you go what the hell is that and then overcome it.  

So who is with me?  Who wants to come play and when do you want to do it?

Sounds like fun and I look forward to seeing the AAR but I wouldn't be able to attend...I've finally worked up to "walking" on flat solid ground (after 10+ months) and traversing a course over uneven ground would not be in my best short or long term interest.

Yep all else fails Im gonna just wander around and shoot state land up here!  I don't care if we just have 10 people do it would be good times and the DSM area is more central.

Im up in the okoboji area.  I think last run down to baxter was a little over 4 hours...I like the dragon area he was showing off it is a bit closer and looks like a nice venue.

I heard that place has ants...the foreigners living adjacent seem nice though.

100 percent the weeds get pretty tall by the 4th earlier in the year I have a bunch of long range spots and know all the conservation guys by now.  I have a decent amount of steel up here as well so if you bring a rifle up with you we can have some good times.

Still recovering from a completely shattered heel bone so crawling or even firing from prone is out as it still involves trying to get back up on the feet.  Bright side is I'm saving money on not shooting any of the ammo stash.

Nick I'll be heading up your way the 3rd of August to take our daughter to a camp for kids of military members...best part is that it's free.

I really want to do this and think we can put on something cool but I am thinking it is pretty stupid for me to try and plan an event that will take place 4 hours from where I live.   Mitt have to talk about it when we do the night vision shoot.   I am hoping we can do a long range event this year too.

About 3 and a half or so.  I will gladly put on something up here but I don't think people want to make the trip up.  I will make a trip down but it doesn't seem like there is all that much interest aside from the folks who generally come out and if that is the case we can just do an invite only thing and enjoy it more in my eyes.  That new venue you showed looks awesome and I hope to shoot some kind of 3 gun there soon.
