Rules:
1. Range commands 1.1 At your car - Put on your gear but leave your gun in the bag or pouch. Take your bag or pouch to a marked Safety Area, clear your gun, holster it then keep it holstered unless you’re under the direct supervision of an SO (Safety Officer) and given the range command to load and make ready or otherwise specifically instructed to unholster the gun by the SO. No ammunition is allowed to be handled in the Safety Area at any time. 1.2 Wear eye and ear protection at all times while on the range. 1.3. You will get stage description and walk through before shooting starts. 1.4. R.S.O. Commands: A. Do you understand the course of fire? B. Make Ready C. Is the shooter Ready? D. Stand By............... BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. E. If you are finished, alert the RSO. E1: RSO will instruct you to show clear for all weapons on the range. 1.5 All person have the authority to yell stop at anytime there is an unsafe condition. If an unsafe range condition occurs (high winds blow walls down, etc) the shooter will be allowed to reshoot the stage. Once the shooter has started the stage (IE buzzer has gone off) all other range failures (IE target falls or was not reset, pasted, etc) will be scored as 0 (Zero). It is up to the R.S.O. to check all targets and range conditions prior to giving the make ready command. 2. Safety Rules: 2.1 Participants are subject to a match disqualification for violating any rule or regulation in Sections 2, 3 or 4. 2.2 Our matches are run on a cold range 2.2.1 A cold Range means that participants firearms will remain unloaded at the match site except under the direction of a match official. 2.3 Designated Safety Areas 2.3.1 Safety Areas are clearly marked 2.3.2 Unloaded firearms may be handled and or displayed only in these areas 2.3.3 No ammunition shall be handled in any Safety Area 2.4 Rifles and Shotguns 2.4.1Rifles and Shotguns must be cased or carried with the muzzle in a safe direction (Either up or down) If you take a long gun to a stage, have the courtesy to be sure that it is not pointed at anyone when it is uncased, failure to follow this simple rule will result in a match disqualification. 2.4.2 Rifles and shotguns must be carried / transported with chamber flags in place and detachable magazines removed. 2.5 Handguns (carry between stages) 2.5.1 Handguns must be holstered or cased while being transported between stages. Magazines must remain out of the handgun until on the stage and under the supervision of the R.S.O. 2.5.2 Handguns must be carried with the hammer/striker down 2.6 Negligent Discharge 2.6.1 Participant shall be disqualified from the match for any negligent discharge 2.6.1a Negligent discharge is defined as the discharge of a firearm in an unsafe manner or unintentionally in which the bullet strikesthe ground within 3 meters of the competitor or R.S.O., or outside the confines of the berm/backstop. 2.7 Participant shall be disqualified from the match for dropping a firearm after the start signal has sounded for the stage. 2.8 A participant shall receive a Stage disqualification for the First offense of allowing the muzzle of his or her firearm to break the 180 degree safety plane. A second offense will result in a Match DQ. 2.9 No participant or spectator shall consume or be under the influence of alcohol, non prescription drugs or otherwise impaired and deemed to be unsafe at the match site shall be asked to remove themselves from the area. 2.10 Eye is mandatory for all participant and spectators while at the match site 2.11 Ear protection is mandatory for participants, spectators and range personnel while on or near the bays. 3.0 Sportsmanship 3.1 Participants and spectators are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous, sportsman-like manner at all times. 3.2 Clothing shall be appropriate for generally accepted public wear. 3.3 If you are not shooting, the on deck shooter or helping run the stage IE timing or scoring, you will be expected to help paste and reset targets. Failure to do so may result in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of 30 seconds per stage at the discretion of the stage SO but may not be applied punitively. 4. Abandoning Firearms While we are not deviating from these important safety rules, "abandoning" firearms is most likely a new concept to shooters in other disciplines and it is an important call out for shooters to understand how to safely handle more than one firearm in a stage. If you have any questions about abandoning / grounding a firearm during the course of fire, ask the R.S.O. prior to starting the stage. The options, simplified: — 1: loaded and on safe or empty and in a retention device = free to move downrange. — 2: loaded and on safe or empty but NOT positively retained = lateral movement only. — 3: UNLOADED = free to move downrange. 5.0 Divisions Tac Optics Mod: Only one optic is allowed, it can be used on any firearm., , handgun, holster must be of a practical style. No race holsters, handgun magazines may not extend more than 1” from grip, no shotgun speed loaders. Rifle magazines shall not exceed 30 rounds. Shotguns may not start a stage with more than 9 rounds loaded. 6.0 Ammunition 6.1 No Tracer, incendiary armor piercing or steel jacketed ammunition is not allowed. 6.2 Pistol/revolver ammunition shall be 9 x 19 or larger 6.3 Rifle shall be .223 or larger except as noted. 6.4 Shogun must be 20 gauge or larger #7-1/2 or smaller lead shot or lead slugs. 6.5 No Firearm may be used in full automatic mode 7.0 Holsters and Equipment 7.1 Holsters shall safely retain the handgun during vigorous movement and for all divisions except open be practical/tactical carry style and must completely cover the trigger on semiautomatic pistols and the trigger and cylinder on revolvers 7.2 Shoulder, Crossdraw, SOB (Small of Back), IWB (In Waistband) or holsters of a soft malleable design/construction are not allowed for safety reasons. 7.3 All equipment decisions will be made by match director and will be final. |

I'm cool with that.
So, what are you thinking with the original post or is it the rum talking? |

Let's figure this out! I'm drunk View Quote This is why you don't let BobRob have your cell number... He won't invite you to get drunk, but he has no problem texting you drunk... Mr. Tank does have a bunch of nice new steel targets and a range... But I think he said he's going to be pretty busy for the rest of the year. We will want at least a 2-3 week notice for the day of the shoot. So that will put us into some cold weather. Now I have a pair, so that won't bother me, but how will everyone else feel? BobRob got me all confused with his drunk talk... This thread will be for discussing future plans for a 3gun match in the Spring. Accordingly him and Jackie Boy don't shoot in the cold |

Jack has a new house that may or may not be in a DM neighborhood where the sounds of gunfire won't attract attention, we could have it at his place.

I'm thinking we should shoot guns, in a rapid manner. What we need: A place to shoot A date And what we will be shooting View Quote thomas, i can help with the list if you'd like. we ended up with seven different hanging stands with multiple targets of varying size from a few inches to 20" and we also have four full size ipsc steels as well. we've got a hostage target as well. we ended up tiling the range area and all around it this summer, so the water doesn't settle now... you're certainly welcome to use all that stuff. also, we bulldozed a relatively level path between the range and the north of the pond, so you could stretch out targets and paths all around that area now. as long as we don't have a date conflict with something my wife has scheduled for me, you're welcome to all that stuff and our property for the shoot. say when... |

View Quote And the big guy comes through again BobRob was worried about "Inviting ourselves", I told him it would be fine. We're looking at early/mid spring, so maybe try and pair this up with another HTF get together? Shooting all steel will make it go much quicker, so we should be able to let people do multiple runs...hopefully. |
|
That sounds like fun, there is good chance I'll be scared away by the comments by page 4 of this thread though.

View Quote you guys worry too much... arfcommers have continually been kind to me and i intend to be kind in return... i'm glad to offer up a place to do this. we've got the targets. we've got the space. so why not? get some details hammered out and we'll make it work. also, i agree. the bottleneck of 'resetting' things will be greatly reduced when using a lot of steel. i'm picking up plate racks, hostage targets, etc. from kurtis at accurate, so they'll be there to use as well depending on the date we settle on. you're welcome to use as many or as few as you need. -michael |

Count me in(schedule permitting)! I'm always looking for a good time!
|
|
if you guys want, i'll make some guns available for folks.
i can provide an AR15 carbine, a 9mm Glock, and a 12ga shotgun. you bring the ammo to run through them. no corrosive stuff or crap of course... i suppose i can offer up a holster and belt for the 9mm also, along with a sling for the AR15. if there are some folks that don't have the equipment maybe this'll help them come out and enjoy the day too. heck, maybe that AR15 should be an SBR with a titanium can... maybe,,, |

As the official (1st round) winner of the last 3 gun shoot , I may have a few prizes to offer to the next winner - in pay it forward fashion.
Now if the winner is Joel, I may have to get creative....what am I saying, we all know it won't be Joel . |
|
I can bring my steel target and four other target stands like last time.

Give me a months notice for the date, and I can get off work.

Well after reading the text stream I sent Joel on Sat. I learned these things:
1) I was super drunk my spelling was attrocious. 2) Even when I'm drunk, I have awesome ideas. 3) Joel makes poor choices with women, Rose, really Joel. Back to the issue at hand. I was thinking early spring, given that Jan. Is right around the corner . Figure that we will try to set a couple runs and keep it small enough that everyone can get through a couple times. Oh yeah, I will spend the winter constructing a trophey to put the Stanley cup to shame. Or maybe it should be championship belt... |

There is no reason anyone cant use the shotguns they have, whats the fun in that. We will just build the stage to try and equalize the guns.
|
|
yes, no reason to exclude a certain type of shotgun. Next thing you know it will be only 8 rounds per handgun and 10 rounds per rifle.
Besides I need my 20 round drum in my Saiga because I shoot shotguns like a drunken monkey on crack. In case you were wondering how a drunken monkey on crack shoots, the answer is terrible. |

Throw a cardboard target into the mix to force a slug changeover maybe?
|
|
I figured we would throw a target out at 50 meters or so and make people shoot it.

In the mean time, I will have to go out and kill some deer with my awesome Vepr 12 shotgun which the deer just look at and die from sheer terror less they want to be subjected the business end of 13 slugs of Russian rage. |

Can I suggest that we make this shoot in Jeff's memory?
For those who don't check GD, http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1549944_I_m_Dying.html It would be nice to have an entry fee, so we can build Travis a rifle on the funds gathered. There have been a lot of members in that thread making personal guns dedicated to Jeff, but I think his son deserves his own. |
