Is there any legal obligation to obey any posted signs stating no firearms/weapons allowed when carrying a ccw into a business not mentioned as a prohibited area in state law? For example a movie theater or retail store? When I looked I couldn't find anything that would lead me to believe that doing so would break any laws, but wanted to get some other opinions on the matter.

Management can ask you to leave. To my understanding that's about it.

No. The signs mean nothing.

IF, and that's a big if, you are discovered to have a firearm you can be made to leave. If you refuse to leave you can be arrested for criminal trespass after notice.

and you'd be surprised how many local managers of franchises/chains will say "we only put the sign up because corporate policy."

Glad to hear it, I always figured if anyone found out I was carrying there would most likely be bigger problems to worry about than a sign on the front door.

Those signs make me smile. I bet lots of people believe them though.

I've noticed those signs in such places as the Mall of America in past visits.

I don't think I've ever noticed one.
