Hey guys,

I'm going to be getting out from behind enemy lines to do some cycling/hiking for a week. My main area will be Rapid City and meandering around the Black Hills. I was hoping I could get some intel on which breweries I shouldn't miss. Extra thanks for pointing me in the direction of food places that deserve a visit too. Here are some of the potential ones I'm looking at:

http://www.haycampbrewing.com/

http://lostcabin.beer/

https://www.firehousebrewing.com/

http://www.minerbrewing.com/

http://www.crowpeakbrewing.com/

Thanks a bunch! I've never been out this way, and really l look forward to exploring.

My opinion:

Haycamp was OK.

Lost cabin was meh.

Firehouse, haven't been there in a LONG time. Heard it was crap now.

Miner was really, really good.

Crow Peak is good.

Food wise, Black Hills Burger and Bun in Custer was recently voted best burger in the nation.

Hill City has a very good winery and brewery, and the Alpine Inn has amazing authentic German food. Its going to be very busy in the area starting pretty soon because of the rally, and will still be pretty busy for about a week after.

Was up there last month. I liked buglin bull and sick and twisted. Crow peak was ok. Brought some back. Wish I could have brought back some sick and twisted.

I'll be heading up the end of September. If you see a Gadsden flag and growler bungeed to a blue road bike, that's me. I'll definitely give Crow Peak a look, and thanks for mentioning Black Hills Burger & Bun.

Made the rounds Saturday, not horribly busy compared to previous years as far as bike traffic goes, but still lots of jacakss riders driving right down the center line had to ride the rumble strips to miss a few that were totally over in my lane a few feet.

Miner brewing company next to Prairie Berry winery had a great Cream Ale and a Peach Mead.
Sick'n'Twisted had a few that were very meh but had a "Panty Dropper" Porter that was amazingly smooth yet full bodies and flavored, definitely in the top 3 of my favorite porters of all time.
Firehouse in Rapid was ok, nothing really popped out at me, was all kinda bland.

Philly Teds - Good phillys and ghost pepper sauce but a total dive. Get shit to go
Eat at the BBQ place across the parking lot from Crow Peak. Crow Peak is good. 11th hour IPA
Murphys has solid food and taps and nice patio, Good bloodies too. One of my favorites(get the bison meat loaf!)
Firehouse is worth a stop and a beer. BBQ food isnt that great but other meals arent bad.
Founders has a few good beers but not sure where it is
Lost Cabin looks cool inside but havent gotten in and always packed(likely because its new)
Que Pasa has some good Brisket tacos and tequila bar and balcony bar
Miners is decent.
Sick N Twisted in my opinion tries too hard. Buck naked winery too. I havent and wouldnt stop there
Alpine Inn is great food. Grasshopper pie FTW
