THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I'm currently in Illinois - my career here is going downhill, crime is going through the roof, the state economy is failing, and the gun laws are terrible. I grew up in a small city in Iowa along the Mississippi river, and would like to return to my small town/midsized city life. |

There is more hunting & fishing ect in Bismarck. Fargo has more going on city wise though since it's the largest city. Housing in Bismarck is getting pretty scarce as well.If you end up needing a recommendation on a good realtor in Bismarck/Mandan let me know.

Might have to hit you up on the realtor recommendation. Final interview is coming up soon. Sure would be nice to get out of Illinois. |

I'd rather move to Bismarck than Fargo. But then again I'm more of an outdoors type of person, and Fargo is just too big. There is some awesome pheasant hunting around Bismarck from what I hear.

I live in Fargo, I like it but it's getting a little too big, the few public ranges are always packed and even on public land an hour out of town there's always people riding horses etc. Hard to find a place to just be alone.

Bismarck is heaven, and is what I consider the "sun belt" of ND, since it always gets the best weather!
Fargo is a shithole imho. Too much city for this farm boy. |

UPDATE –– I'm going to be accepting the offer in Fargo. I had visited both Fargo and Bismarck during both interviews. Like most of you, I liked Bismarck better, but the job offer was much, much better in Fargo. Both cities are a huge improvement over where I currently reside in Illinois, so I'm happy. Thanks to all for the advice.
Going the apartment route for now - anyone in Fargo have any recommendations? Willing to pay up to $900/mo |

Fargo/Grand Forks are just starting to feel the housing pinch that the rest of the state is feeling. Prices are only going to continue to rise and probably will rather quickly. If you can't do it now, then you can't do it, but try the best you can. |
