THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
As the title says I'm looking for a gunsmith to do some work on a 1903 Springfield I was given. Not sure if the barrel is any good or not and if not I need the gunsmith to replace my barrel. Wish I could do it myself but I'm guessing the tools to get it done would cost more then paying someone to do it for me. I'm taking this old rifle that has been abused for not sure how long and giving her a new life! She was spray painted and covered in rust when I got her the stock is cracked and trashed to bad you could feel the groves on the stock where it was worn down the stock just felt right but its snapped almost in half at the butt stock.

Anyway thanks for the help I live in Fort Yates and willing to drive if need be to find a Smith who is good found one place in Bismarck but the guy was going to charge me $150 because he would need to clean the rifle(even after I did it!) then $45 to $50 an hour for man time then another $200 to replace the barrel and $45 to $50 hour for man time. Maybe this guy was giving me a good price but at that cost I'd just buy the tools!

I've experienced otherwise.

+1. Never really cared for their place when I lived in ND.

Friend's father is a gunsmith near Turtle Lake. Don't know if he still takes on work or not. Was pretty slick getting to see his rifling machinery!
