What's a good place for an inexperienced (in tactical shooting) guy to try IDPA style shooting scenarios, in SE MI?

Wayne County Raccoon Hunters Club in Romulus is a great place (I am a member there) as well as Livingston Conservation and Sports Association in Brighton.

Can non members come to shoot, or do I need to get an invite from a member?

Non-members always welcomed. Practices are on Wednesday evening. Cost is $10, bring 100-150 rounds to be safe. How much you shoot is dependent on how many show up. If you think you'll make it let me know and I can meet you there and walk you thru the process.

ETA: that above is for the Raccoon Hunters Club, I'm also a member there.
