Just in case this flew past anybody's radar, an updated and long-awaited airgun reclassification was signed by Snyder last week:

So pellet pistols are no longer "pistols"?

Good, I'm glad to see that they got this done.

Holy smokes, actual sanity out of Lansing. Finally a sane and rational classification that is in line with the majority of our nation. Congrats to the Legislature and the Governor for being reasonable.

Snyder's far from perfect, but just remember things like this the next time one of our resident MOBYs tries to claim that electing a democratic governor would work out better in the long run if it teaches the republicans a lesson.  Schauer wouldn't have signed this in a million years.

And which resident sheep says so? (Particularly since this would already have been law months ago, except that Mr. Snyder vetoed it the first chance he got.) Another case in point: In the early 2000s, when anti-gunners were trying to criminalize open carry by claiming that it constituted "brandishing", a certain Michigan attorney general wrote an opinion stating that holstered pistols were perfectly legal. Which one? A Democrat named Jennifer Granholm. The vast improvement in gun laws we've seen in Michigan in the last 15 years are driven by reality finally coming home to roost, and public recognition of it, not by Republican leadership. The Republican governors, from Engler to the current faker, have never been friends of gun owners, but eventually had to go along with the pro-gun legislators in their own party.

Mr. Snyder is an Ann Arbor liberal millionaire who decided to pick the Republican party as his path to being governor merely because it was the one with momentum at the time. He has steadily pushed for Democrat legislation since not long after getting elected, and vetoed a large number laws the Republican conservative legislature passed. In about a month or two, when the supreme court decison on Obamacare funding comes down, he's going to be barnstorming the state pushing for the highest priority legislation the Democrats have - getting an Obamacare state exchange pushed through here. Since he is a Democrat in R's clothing, he may very well succeed, whereas if an honest Democrat governor was doing it, the Republicans would tell him to go pound sand. There is no shortage of obedient gullible sheep who can always be counted on to get in line and unblinkingly, unthinkingly, vote as the party boss tells them to.

I wouldn't say that Synder vetoed it for nefarious reasons the first time. He vetoed half of a package of bills that passed and the other half didn't pass. Signing it would have created problems in the criminal code.

He signed the same bills when all of them passed together the next time around.

Yes he is a liberal squish from AA. He did veto the domestic violence emergency permit but thats because he folds like a cheap suit on social issues.

I don't see Schauer being better nor did we have many other good/electable options.

Snyder is your typical Michigan Republican Leadership, which still are RINO as all out.

He only ever favors pro-gun under extreme pressure and frankly that's not how a Republican Governor should be conducting himself. Michigan needs a touch more libertarianism in its Republican State Party.

Did this fix the issue with shrouded airguns?  I would love to buy one.
