Michigan: With Only Three Days Left in the Legislative Session, Pro-Gun Bills Need Your Help in Lansing!
Posted on December 12, 2014

We are now down to the final days of the 2013-2014 legislative session and multiple pro-gun bills still require action and need passage.

Senate Bills 789 and 790 are still awaiting a vote on the floor of the Michigan House of Representatives.  Even though nearly all stakeholders have agreed that SB 789 represents good public policy and raises no public safety concerns, some state government bureaucrats are opposing these bills for one reason—money.  The NRA believes that concealed pistol license (CPL) fees should only reflect the actual cost of fulfilling all statutorily mandated responsibilities associated with the CPL process; anything above that should by definition be considered a revenue generating tax.  Please contact your state Representative today and respectfully tell him or her that law-abiding CPL holders should not be overcharged or additionally taxed for exercising their constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms and their fundamental right to self-defense.

Last night, the Michigan House of Representatives passed Senate Bills 964, 965, 966 and 979, part of the Air Gun Reclassification Package, with overwhelming bipartisan support.  These bills have been returned to the state Senate for a concurrence vote.  House Bills 5450, 5749 and 5750, the House components to the Air Gun Reclassification Package, are still awaiting a vote in the Michigan Senate.  Please contact your state Senator and respectfully urge him or her to support passage of the Air Gun Reclassification Package.  With only three session days left before adjournment of the 2013-2014 legislative session, it is crucial that these bills pass next week.

The Air Gun Reclassification Package is an overdue fix to Michigan’s firearms statute and seeks to achieve pragmatic and much-needed reform by redefining the term “firearm” in the Michigan Code to exclude devices that propel a projectile by gas, spring or air.  The goal of this package is to relieve Michiganders, and those seeking to engage in interstate commerce with Michigan residents, from outdated and unduly burdensome restraints on the transfer, purchase and possession of most air guns.

Also last night, Senate Bill 977 was placed on its third reading in the House of Representatives and will likely receive a vote next Tuesday.  SB 977, introduced by state Senator John Moolenaar (R-36), seeks to provide active duty military personnel who are on duty orders outside of the state with the option to renew their CPL through the mail.  Please contact your state Representative and respectfully urge him or her to support SB 977.

Again, it is crucial that these bills receive a vote before the state Legislature adjourns next Thursday. Action is required now since time is running short.

Hope you aren't counting on "Ricky the Rino" to actually have the cajones to support anything pro Second amendment unless it benefits his agenda.

I called and asked my State Rep and Senator to support the Bills.

I am not all that optimistic about how licensing to CPL will change despite the NRAs proposal.

Snyder is a Real RINO who drags his feet on Second Amendment issues if not vetoes good legislation which benefits gun owners or those who want their Second Amendment rights acknowledged.

Snyder at Work.....

Now he's got Detroit Mayor Duggan sucking his **** after the Detroit Bailout.   Duggan will be at Snyder's Inauguration in Lansing.   Duggan will become the next Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate.

This is very scary indeed. Snyder is a RINO who is now granting a  Liberal Detroit Democratic Mayor a prominent Forum who may now appear more " Main Street".

I have a feeling Snyder will be heading to Washington D.C. after his term is up.

From what I remember Duggan had an F rating by the NRA.

Scary shit!
