After the last two games, tonight was refreshing...

This Norton kid pulled his head out, and stuck in there, and Rondon showed that he CAN get a handle on things.

The more I watch McCann, the more resentful I am of Alex even being in the line up. The kid is a damn Pitbull, and he's going to be a hell of smart investment.

Next year should be pretty awesome with a few trades, and as long as Avila doesn't screw everything up like DD did with the Pen and starters.

You mean Norris?

I was pleased with what I saw from Norris tonight, and I was REALLY pleased with what I saw from Boyd on Monday. Here's a couple guys with fewer than 10 starts in the big leagues, and they are playing against the team with the best record in the AL, in their own ballpark, and both times, they were able to level off, give the Tigers some innings and keep their team in the game. Boyd was spectacular on Monday coming back after that rough first inning and shutting down the Royals.

The guy we got for Cespedes, Fulmer...he has not allowed a run at Erie yet and the kid we got for Soria is hitting like .341 at Erie. Dave really stocked this team up. All the sudden they went from looking like the Phillies to looking like KC two years ago. We've got lots of good young players (McCann, Marte, JDMart, Gose, Iggy, Norris, Boyd, Hardy, Wilson, Rondon and don't forget about Lobstein) and they all have high upside going forward.

I think they're out of the playoffs, but getting Miggy back and maybe getting Lobstein back, they can definitely be spoilers headed into August and September. If the kids can improve in winter ball and build on what we're seeing this year, they can be dangerous next season. Two years, they could be where the Royals are now.

Norton, Norris...
I'm tripping on Benedryl, cut me a Huss.

Agreed on Boyd. Unlike Greene, he figured things out in a snap, and settled in with control when his junk was sloppy.

Lobstein is a quandry. He should have never been out of Toledo this year. He goes in short streaks of brilliance, to a funky mess.
He WILL get a handle on it, but it should have been in AAA.

I don't see two years. I see next year.
Two more solid starters, and a Pen staffed with half decent 7th and 8th inning specialists, and someone to back up Rondon.

Hitting in a crunch, is what the Offense lacked last year and this year.
That is a systemic problem, and can be corrected.

Marte leaves me flat. I just don't see much in the guy yet.
Collins has been more impressive.

Who is getting dumped in the post season, is going to be interesting.
I know I'll be pissed at least once.

Lobstein? Aside from Price, he was our most consistent starter this season, before he went on the DL.

As for the hitting, this is, once again, the all around best hitting team in the American League. They are first in Baseball in batting average, third in OBP, 4th in slugging, third in OPS, 6th (...in baseball) in Runs and 16th in strike outs. The problem is that you can't outscore a pitching staff that is 26th...26TH...in ERA (that has improved BTW, since the Price trade...believe it or not).

If the Tigers had good pitching then they would be in the position that KC is in now, maybe the position that St. Louis is in. But they don't. Why? Because JV got hurt (and I believe he would have been Comeback Player of the Year had he not gotten hurt...still might be!) and everyone except Price, Wilson and Hardy have sucked.

Next year, they will contend, absolutely. But, if they stay young, with McCann, Lobstein, Boyd, Norris, Hardy, Wilson, Marte, Big Nick, Gose, JDMart, Collins...and all the other kids, then they may damn well run away from the whole fucking league by 2017.

THAT is what I want! I want all these washed up, degenerated fucks on the MLB Network, who for YEARS have been bitching that the Tigers (4 time AL Central Champions) have underperformed, and declared the Tigers to be the next Phillies, to be saying "HOLY SHIT! WHERE DID THESE KIDS COME FROM IN DETROIT? I'M ALL IN ON THE BLUE AND ORANGE THIS YEAR BABY! WHATEVER THEY HAVE IN THE MOTOR CITY IT'S WORKING!" Just so I can send nasty Tweets to Dan Plesac and Billy Ripken telling them that TRUE Tigers fans NEVER sold on The Olde English D!

Am I fucking psycho? You're goddamn right!

Dammit!!

I keep hoping that some sort of last Min. Miracle happens, and a Wild card chance opens up.

NOT going to happen..I know.

Big Pasta didn't have his best stuff working long enough.

Honestly, the Stros have a pretty solid line up, and play some really sound Ball.
It's going to be a good series, even if the Tigers go further into the tank.

Did ya'll just see that shit!!

McCann just made a hell of a stop, in the gravel, crossed up to his right, and had the presence of mind to be aware of the runner at first, and fire a friggin' bullet to Martinez, while still in the crouch. Nailing the runner before the guy could react. BAM!!!!!!!!

The Kid is the real deal.
Avila needs to choose to either play ball elsewhere, or coach for Daddy.
No way in hell should he be drawing a check to play in Detroit, unless he's gonna work for REAL cheap.

I went to the game and thought the exact same thing. I texted a buddy of mine in The D and said "Runner on third with Altuve coming up, not looking good." He replied "Intentional Walk", and I replied "If they were going to walk him then they would have left Gorzo in to do it." Sure as shit, one pitch later, game over.

Oh, and not only did I get to see the Tigers walked off in an away ballpark, but when I came back to my car I discovered that they broke into my car and stole my carry piece.

OK, THAT is a Bad day.

Even in the D, folks have more class, and would have just stolen your Car.
I hope the bastards get drunk, wave the thing around in front of their Homies, and then shove it in their pants while pulling the trigger.
I hate a goddamned thief!!

Brad was going with the long shot, and the positive option.
Put yourself in his shoes.

Lawyer ball, and walk the Pest, while rattling the pitchers confidence, and taking chances with the next guy...who really is as much of a threat with a Pinch replacement, against Wilson.

Wilson pumped the Cat on the front lawn, with a high fastball that had "Hit Me" written all over it, instead of an inside zone scraper.
His control was off, and he blew it.

The Pen put the Tigers on the spot in the 11th.
Had there been a starter worth a damn, and a pen worth a shit, it never would have come to the decision to walk or not.

Give an aircraft mechanic a Hammer and a chisel, as his only tools, and the plane is gonna leave a crater in a corn field.
If you want to lynch somebody, find DD.

I was telling my buddy on the way home, that I hoped the asshole who stole it tried to rob a gas station and got his head blown off. Even if I could never get the gun back, but the fucker who stole it got himself killed with it, then it would be worth it to have had him steal it.

Oh, and Boyd, giving up two homers to a guy who looks like the love child of The Phantom of the Opera and Steven Tyler, yeah, that pissed me off too. That greasy mother fucker has hit two home runs off of lefties all year...both of them came today off Boyd. But, Boyd is a rookie with a lot of upside, so I give him a pass.

Yep!!

Slow, painfull, and screaming for Mommy death, is about the best I can wish upon your thief.
In an un-Christian moment, I could easily wish for time fuse, duct tape, and blasting caps in odd places.
Take Solace in AID's as well as Sepsis, being in the maggots future.

Boyd is stepping up hard, but still too early.
If Avila is smart, he will take the beatings, and let him and Norton ferment a bit more in Toledo.

There IS something rotten in Detroit, and until it is isolated, and cut out like a Cancer, I wouldn't want either of those two exposed.

That fucking moron let Buck Farmer face that moose when he was giving up rockets, and then he lets Hardy bat with a runner in scoring position with Vmart, Davis and Romine on the bench. Sure, Vmart, Davis and Romine aren't apAll Star hitters this year...BUT IT WASN'T THEIR FIRST GODDAMN MAJOR LEAGUE AT BAT!

And what does Hardy do? Gives up a double on his first pitch.

Three game winning streak! They haven't won three in a row since June.

Sanchez and Norris both just went on the 15 day DL. So the rotation is now JV, Pasta, The New Kid and whoever else they can find to pitch on the other days.

I hope the can at least be spoilers and fuck someone else out of the playoffs. Sweeping Texas and fucking them 5 games out of the wild card would be a nice start.

Sanchie has been hiding a problem for a while. The interview I caught on the radio, didn't sound too positive for a quick return.

Norris, I doubt will be gone for more than a week.

The Kids getting brought up to fill, don't make me as nervous as the Pen.

I'm hoping for better than a Spoiler run.
It's Baseball. Crazy shit happens.
Smacking the Cubs around, and curb stomping the Rangers proves they can still manage to win, and win big.
Avila isn't sitting back, and waiting on the sunset either.

Did Dave's departure have some kind of addition by subtraction effect?

Something lit a fire under their ass. That's for sure.
They are playing aggressive ball on both sides of the plate, like they did at the start of the season.
Trying to get their numbers up for the off season, and imminent shuffle?

Who knows, but it's good Ball. The two games with Shitcago were the two best games all season.

If Illitch can pull another starter out of his ass all of a sudden(Shields?), things could get interesting real quick.
God Hates me though...it ain't gonna happen.

It could be.
The old fart has been doing pretty well in AAA, and is better than bringing up some kid, that is still shitting Gerber products.

Remember Kenny Rogers?

Yeah, I know, the Cinderella shit only happens in Lifetime Movies...
Winter is coming, and I gotta cling to something.

If the Blue Jays didn't bring him up, with their pitching troubles, then that should be a sign.

More DD lame excuses.

The offense is there, the defense is there.

What is missing, is Pitching, and competent support.

DD going to Bahstin, is no mistake.

"They can't put it together", was the excuse for the last several years.

VMart in his last interview, nailed it.

But that doesn't explain why JV has 3 losses over his last 5 starts while posting a 1.69 ERA, or while they lost the last three games. When the pitching is on the offense is off. When the offense is on the pitching is off. They just can't get good pitching and run scoring at the same time.

I checked out on this season like a month or two ago.

Seriously, it's summer still and winter sucks balls. I'm not going to waste my summer on a team that pisses me off most of the time and runs up my blood pressure.

"Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser" as Patton said. I'm not going to reward crap play and management by watching them and giving them ratings.

True, to a point.

Generally, JV is pitching against the other teams ace, which makes generating offense on either side less likely.
Over the course of a season, the tiny advantages and odds of scoring ,make the difference in wins.

The wins come when the pitching is almost solid, and hitting is avg. or better, and opposed by less than stellar pitching.

What the team is running into, is a constant grind against pitching that is at or near JV's level, with only JV and Sanchie worth a shit to oppose...and Sanchie has been playing hurt.

Literally, the std. for pitching in the AL central, and AL overall, is crazy high right now, and lets face it, there remains a systemic problem stemming from the Hitting staff.

I have still been reading you guys everyday I just can't bring myself to post much anymore. It just kills me when they play this bad.

About the only bright spot now is that tickets are becoming dirt cheap. $5 box seats are here. Still love the sport so I will be going down there

Come on gang.....

Ya start the season intending to ride the bus to the last stop.
Baseball is a process. A good part of next season will be formed right now, sucking or not.

Then we will have all damn winter..watching "Moneyball", "Bull Durham", and whatever winter league games we can find on the back channels...just to watch baseball of some sort.
It's fixing to suck watching some other teams in the playoffs, and Royally suck after the series.

Watching Iggy fire off an impossible shot to 1st, or Miggy blasting holes into the bleachers is still fun!!
Hang in there.

i`m good, i`m over being pissed off, yesterday was an example, we have the line up, no doubt in my mind, pitching was good till the relievers came in, again nothing substantial has been done with the bullpen in a few years, it just sucks, i`d bet money thats why DD was sent packing

I listen to every game, and I will continue to listen to every game.

I am looking forward to the offseason though to see who the Tigers pick up.

It's starting to look like the Tigers are going to restock the farm system next year with a lot of high draft picks.

It wasn't the hanging curves at 78mph..

It was the fastballs thrown to the kid wearing the green shirt, 4 rows up and to Mccann's left...and at the edge of the grass, and the Hot Dog vendor at the top of the first deck stairs.

The guy is being used as a starting pitcher. In the rotation, of a MLB team.
Was allowed to throw 3 wild pitches that resulted in runs scored........

Just to avoid going to the Pen.

The Bats answered, and held their own, then overcame, only to have everything given away AGAIN.

DD did a hell of a job setting this team up to fail, and fail for several years.

He has had little spurts of control issues all season, that just showed up out of nowhere.
Not just a fuzzy slider or curve now and then, but wild streaks he can't keep a handle on....then they would go away.
Early on he got pulled when that happened.  I thought he had a handle on it though.
If he could just lock it down....
