1 run is just never enough with this bullpen. 9th inning base on balls just won't fucking cut it!

You've got a closer whose ERA is almost 5 with 4.5 BB/9, that's just not good enough.

So KC is up 5-4 over the Sux.
Probably going to be back down to a .5 game lead. Oh well. We have Price going to tomorrow (you better have your shit weird tight David!) and KC is facing Chris Sale tomorrow. |

Think about that for a Min. It's like choosing between Drowning or getting set on fire. Coke's ERA doesn't reflect the whole story. They are both the equivalent of taking the Ebola option. Brad doesn't have a "better" option, except Nathan gets lucky playing the odds now and then. Porcello actually did darn well tonight. The Kid is coming around and turning into a solid Mofo. If Dumbrowski doesn't trade him for another washed up closer, he's going to be a rock next season. |

I have got to believe it is NOT going to be Brad's call for much longer. This organization has done too much to win now and this realistically is their last shot. They have been giving Nathan enough rope to hang himself. How can he complain if they pull him. Just like Sanchez conceding to the bullpen if needed. They are trying to let Brad believe he is in charge to see what he can do, but make no mistake they are not going to give him the leeway that Leyland had. |

You know I wasn't happy about the trade for Price. Then he made some good starts and I got on board, but his last four starts have been shitty.
Drew Smyly had 3-1 record with a 1.70 ERA after the trade. Soria comes over and struggles after being lights out. Nathan puts up a sub 2.00 ERA last year, then comes over and get an ERA over 5.00. Scherzer has been shitty lately too. What the fuck happened to this team's pitching? You give these guys a lead and they fucking blow it! I know everyone's pissed at JV, but if you look at his last 10 starts, he's only given up more than 4 runs once, and he has been bitten by bad defensive plays. Errors in that game in Cleveland, that fucked up inside the park homer against KC, and then shitty relief pitching against Cleveland when he came out because of that blister. JV, Ricky and Lobstein have been the only consistent pitchers, as starters or out of the bullpen. |

JV, Ricky and Lobstein have been the only consistent pitchers, as starters or out of the bullpen. View Quote Anyone else missing Smyly and Fister? The one thing that all of them have in common, including Smyly and Fister, (that have excelled after leaving), is Jones. Lobstein is still shitting Gerber products, and pulling Toledo Pine out of his ass. Jones hasn't had much influence on him yet. JV and Ricky both, are independent minded, JV to a fault. Price is something else. He has the control after a couple innings, but the first couple are always rocky. Whatever prep regimen he has, needs a look and some adjusting. That is Jones job. Max is one of those guys that thinks through each pitch, and is adjustable like Gumby. Alex and Max both have talked about it many times. Alex will see a glitch in the game, mention it, and Max will adjust. Again, it's Jones job to stay on top of things. Pitchers are notorious critters of habit. They have to be. Jones is the one that is supposed to keep them in the groove. He's failing hard. How long has it taken JV to work out his bugs? Nathan? Coke? Al Al? We have a garage full of Ferrari super cars, and all but two will hit 70mph. It's time to find a different Mechanic. On another note, have you looked at Sorias numbers? He should be closing, and Nathan moved to the 8th. I just looked and it's silly that Brad hasn't been using him as the closer. Fuck Nathan if it hurts his little feelings. |

Two of those pitchers developed into Cy Young winners while Jeff Jones was the bullpen and then pitching coach. Ricky has made huge strides the last three years under Jeff Jones too. I really wonder if David Price wants to be a Tiger. He was vocal about not wanting to get traded and wanting to stay in Tampa. I'm not saying that he is throwing games, but is it possible that he is not content in Detroit and it is impacting his performance?
