I will be traveling to your great state of Michigan in about a week. Going to the towns of Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids and Big Rapids.

I'll have some free time so I was wanting to check out some the of the local gun shops. I prefer small local type gun shops. The more country, the better.
I want to stay out of the Big Box places.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Gunwish

Ole Gun Shack is just south of Big Rapids. Very small local type. About 10 minutes south of campus.

Was going to recommend this. I wish that place was there when I went to school in that town.

I hear Silver Bullet in Grand Rapids is decent, haven't been there though.

Gun show is in Grand Rapids this weekend. Never been to this one.

Kalamazoo has two fairly good gun shops next to each other and they're right off of US 131. OnTarget is has a bunch of used pistols and rifles in stock.

Rylee's Ace Hardware in Grand Rapids also has a gun counter. It's not worth a trip from very far away, but if you're in town it's worth checking out. Silver Bullet in Grand Rapids is also good for browsing, take some ear plugs so you don't have to listen to all the stupid shit that is said though.

Schantz's is near Allegan/Plainwell which is between K'zoo and GR. They are mainly a long gun and hunting place, but they do a few handguns and reloading supplies.

Cabela's won't be open for another year, so that's about it. There are a couple of shops in/near Muskegon if you get over that way, just can't remember the names.

On Target's worth a stop. God knows I've left a good chunk of cash at that place.

On Target in Kalamazoo is a very big store with something for every taste. But the prices at times can be high.
For cheaper handgun prices just go down the road (about 2miles) to D&R Sports.
The more I get to know people the more I like Dogs.
