About 7 of us making a day and a half trip out of this.  All are retired except for our friend's son (Phd/Engineering) and his wife Vet.

We have three rooms booked for Sunday night in McMinnville.  Now we're just looking for a decent place to view the eclipse during the day.  No camping, fires, drinking etc.  Just sitting around waiting for the eclipse to happen.  We just need a decent field that we can park two vehicles, some folding chairs and a couple canopies for shade. 

I can guarantee we'll leave it cleaner than we found it.

Rock Island State Park

OP, I hope your in the Best Western...unless you consider an in room meth lab an amenity.

Got to be a Walmart around there.

Any of the Corps of Engineers rec areas on Center Hill Lake would be good for viewing.

Rock Island State Park has cabins that are better than any hotel in McMinnville.

I think the McMinnville Civic Center or one of the various city parks would be a good viewing area.

Mountain Top Shooting Range is in a good location for viewing and you can get some range time in.

PLENTY of country roads out there. Just pull over and enjoy no one being around.

I promise, the deputies won't bother you.

That's what we are hoping to avoid.  I expect it to be somewhere between a FL hurricane traffic-at-a-standstill-for-hours anf a full-out zombie-fest with the public coming in from God knows where.
