Planning / thinking of going here for a few days fishing in early October. Any thoughts or recommendations on resorts on the lake?

+1 on Boyette's. They have some cabins as well.

Bluebank Resort is one of the nicer ones on the Lake.

I'd give them a call.

X2 and hire one of their guides (at least the first day) if you have never been on the lake. Reelfoot is not a lake for a novice.
