It's getting closer but not close enough to moving to the great state of TN and my wife and I both have potential jobs in the Knoxville area, I'll use the walmart on 6777 clinton hwy for a land mark.

Is there any decent living conditions within 10-15 miles of there?

Decent as in?

What are you looking for? Subdivision? Acreage? Schools? What's your price range?

Your question is a bit vague.

Oops sorry here's more detail:
Looking to rent a house to get started
School does not apply
I'll look at prices once I have names of some areas to look at, if it helps we're not doctors or lawyers.

Maybe it would be easier to name the areas to stay away from.

The biggest thing is what exactly are you looking for? Rural? Urban? And most importantly price range.

As for what to stay away from, that can vary as to minority "issues", but in that General area, that's not too big of an issue. The biggest issues are meth labs and rednecks. But a lot of that depends on how rural you care to be.

Your price point will dictate your options.

Suburban area 800-1000 a month.

That should certainly be doable, I would think in that mileage range. Just stay out of east side of the city, that range also puts you close to Clinton and Anderson county.

I would contact a realtor and have them come up with a list and then come view them. I would not commit to anything sight unseen.

East side of Knoxville itself? And thanks for all your help!

Yes, east side of Knoxville.

The area you describe is fairly diverse as far as land goes. Everything from inner city, subdivisions, farmsteads to raw land. You can get pretty urban with all the major amenities to very quiet out of the way remote areas.
