Posted: 8/18/2012 4:15:03 PM THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I saw what I believe to be a B-17 flying low and slow under heavy cloud cover yesterday while I was grilling burgers for lunch. Is there an airshow down towards Memphis this weekend or next? Halls, which was my first thought, isn't until 24 September. I'm not a big aircraft buff, but it was an absolutely breathtaking sight. I wish I had a camera with me.

In the mid-1970's, I saw one for sale with a $100,000 price tag, and the prices have just gotten ridiculous since then. Last time I checked, bomber prices weren't anywhere near as bad as P-51 prices, but fuel and maintenance would cost a fortune. A Douglas A-26 would be fun, though.

Posted: 8/22/2012 7:28:08 PM One of my coworkers paid $1,500 for a ride in a Mustang there at Halls. They went up for about 40 minutes. He has an awesome pic of them rolling in on an unsuspecting T-6 Texan that was flying around. He said it was the most fun 40 minutes of his life. He also had a pic of two P-47D thunderbolts flying in formation. They were wearing the same squadron designation and paint scheme "Hun Hunter".
