THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Saturday March 31st and Sunday April 1st 2012 The Tactical Rifle class is $150 for Saturday and $300 for both days to include Tactical and Intermediate Rifle. **Also, we will be adding the Intermediate Rifle class on Day 2.** This will be a two day class and the dates are Saturday March 31st and Sunday April 1st 2012. I believe the class is held at a range near Como, MS. about 45 minutes south of Memphis. I asked Jason to work around the MSSA 3 gun matches on March 17 and April 21st and also the Knob Creek shoot on April 14th. By scheduling the class in the spring, that will give everyone plenty of time to get the required gear and ammo together and save up for the class. Ronin has given us one helluva discount. The Tactical Rifle class is $150 for Saturday and $300 for both days to include Tactical and Intermediate Rifle. Here is a link to their site: http://www.roninstrategies.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=16&Itemid=44 If you haven't read it yet, there is another thread running in the TN Hometwon forum started by scoutfsu99 here: Ronin After Action Report thread There are also youtube videos posted by Ronin here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JotM1e_vJVM I have talked to several people that have trained with Ronin, and they have all said that the classes at Ronin are among the best in the industry. The maximum number of shooters we can have is 17. When we did the class last year at Range USA I thnk we had 19, so I know this class will fill up quick. If you want to take the class, please post in this thread as soon as possible. Of course your spot in the class will NOT be carved in stone until you are paid in full, but this will get the ball rolling. I will provide updated information as soon as I get it. Edited to add: I will keep the list of shooters that want to take the class updated in this first post. Even after we get our max number of 17 shooters, if you want to take the class, please reply and we will start taking alternates in the order that they post in the thread. It is always inevitable that someone gets a scheduling conflict and has to back out. So far we have: Saturday March 31 Tactical Rifle class: HermanSnerd USMC_LB HKOVERKILL crawlin95 Observer gotigers YukonBoy03 BandM BandM's Dad TnFarmer nihilsum JWM77822 miker84 geronc MShooter Robert_J That is 16 shooters. Day 1 has ONE more opening. Any new names after that will be added to the alternate list in the order that they are posted. Sunday April 1 Intermediate Rifle class: HermanSnerd HKOVERKILL USMC_LB Observer nihilsum scoutfsu99 miker84 geronc MShooter 8 slots left for Sunday's Intermediate Rifle class. We need 10 shooters for Sunday but we currently only have 9. Alternate list for Saturday class in case of cancellation: Taking names for alternate list NOW. IF you want to take the class, get your name on the list as an alternate. You may get in if we have another cancellation. Wow! This is filling up faster than even I thought it would. This is gonna be a fun and challenging 2 days of great classes with a group of guys I'd walk through Hell with!
Edited on Wednesday 10-12-11 to add: Prices and Dates are posted on Page 2. Jason has given us a special rate of $150 for Tactical Rifle and $300 for both classes. Dates are Saturday March 31st and Sunday April 1st
Edited: 11/11/11 To earn the Ronin SHOOTER tab, you must be able to shoot to their standards for the class you have completed. These are posted on page 5. Edited 12/22/11 Please read bottom of page 8 and respond to question about a February get together and ordering Ronin caps. Edited 1/4/12 Please check your IM's and make sure to read today's update on the bottom of page 9. We all need to register with ronin by Wednesday January 11th. Edited 1/18/12 Due to special circumstances, the staff at Ronin are going to allow us to register 17 shooters for this class. Day 1 has one openingand we still have openings for Day 2. Edited 01/31/12 Read the top of page 15 and let me know if you didn't get the invitation for our party saturday. If you did get it, please RSVP asap so I can get an accurate head count. Edited 2/1/12 We are cancelling Saturday's pre class party. Inzane123 is out and Robert_J gets his slot. Edited 3/3/12 4 weeks to go. Still have slots open for Day 1 and 2. Edited 3/5/12 Jason at Ronin says we can handle one more shooter on Saturday. We have one open slot for Saturday and I need at least one person that is shooting Day 1 on Saturday to sign up to shoot on Day 2 on Sunday. Either that, or I need another shooter to sign up for both days. We only have 9 shooters for Sunday and we need a minimum of 10. Here is a link to the range's website with address and a map link: http://dsrp.net/site/index.php The Como Range is located at: 7171 Compress Road Como, MS 38619 GPS Coordinates to the Range Gate (DD MM.MMM): N34 32.362 W89 54.415 Update 3/29/12 Latest weather is sunny and high in the 80's for both days. Prepare for heat, sun, and bring lots to drink in addition to pre-hydrating. With full sun all day and temps in the mid 80's , being a heat casualty in March sounds crazy but is a real possibility. Make sure you have everything you need to stay cool and hydrated. |

If you are still in the early stages, you may want to consider (and see if RCS would consider) doing the basic course back-to-back with their intermediate course. I've done that combination with other training orgs and it works nicely for them and the students. It gives the noobs a baseline for day 2/3 and it gives the more advanced guys a chance to either opt out or get a refresher before jumping in. Since they're local, it could always be done a week later if the schedule is tight.
Just a suggestion. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I appreciate your suggestion and hope you can come out and train with us. In order to keep costs down, we are going to start with the one day Tactical Rifle class, but I am sure this will not be the last class we take with Ronin. Once we get this class under our belt, we will discuss as a group what class we would like to do next. I would like to take a class every 6-8 months or so. We planned to do this after the last handgun class at Range USA in April2010, but with the ongoing recession and general lack of extra fun money by alot of us, I held off on organizing any additional classes. We will judge everyone's response to this class and see how soon after we want to plan another one. Also, I have spoken to USMC_LB and HKOVERKILL, and they have both committed to taking this Tactical Rifle class so that makes 4 so far. HermanSnerd USMC_LB HKOVERKILL crawlin95 11 slots left. |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile They told us that when you take the intermediate course, day one is essentially the tac rifle class. Oh, and in. Possibly HH6 if she isn't busy. Also, in general, the first or second weekend in a month is a no go for me - I have to go play Soldier. |

Temps should be pleasant in the 60's during the day and hopefully we will miss the April and May downpours. |

Given the choice I really would prefer to take an intermediate level class, the other basic carbine class I took was okay but I'd prefer to challenge myself a bit more.
Regardless, I'm down with whatever. |

Regardless, I'm down with whatever. I think everyone has to take their Tactical Rifle class (or per the Ronin website, or proof of basic carbine training from a reputable establishment). I am talking to Jason and he said he may add the Intermediate class on the next day for those that want to take it too. I will keep posting details as I get them and post the projected dates for us to see what works for the majority. Edited above with accurate info about the Intermediate class requirements. |

Jason is probably going to add the Intermediate Class as Day 2 for those of us that want to get both training classes done on the same weekend.
I am waiting on confirmation of prices for the one day class versus both days. Here are the Intermediate Class details: http://www.roninstrategies.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17&Itemid=72 Also, after completion of the Intermediate class, students can earn the SHOOTER tab. At the culmination of each course, students will be tested in front of their peers on the core pistol/rifle combat shooting standards. Those that meet the requirements will be tabbed with an official Ronin Combat Strategies SHOOTER TAB. These tabs are designed to be worn on the back of the Ronin shooter ball cap More info on the SHOOTER tab here: http://www.roninstrategies.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=15&Itemid=63 |

Awaiting the updated prices. I would be interested in the intermediate as well. Looking forward to having a good time with my friends and a great opportunity to meet some new ones! If you are reading this thread and still sitting on the fence whether to come or not. Come on!!! We guarantee you will have a good time with this crew. LB |

If the tactical rifle class is $190 plus 500 rifle and 200 pistol, then it might be hard for me to fund the intermediate the next day.
A group buy might be a good idea to help offset the cost of ammo. We can discuss this later per IM as not to upset the "hammer". |

also, that 500 count is pretty accurate. I got a little trigger happy during some of the drills and had to beg, borrow, and steal approx 60rds to finish the day.
