N2 Highpower and long range matches at the local ranges (ORSA and VRPC), went to Camp Perry in 2001 for the NRA Highpower Matches, one word, Awesome!!!!

I helped (along with many others in ORSA'S Highpower Program) convince Jim Scoutten to do an American Shooter segment at Oak Ridge for a CMP clinic and I received my 15 seconds of fame.

I'm into USGI firearms, Match Rifles and starting into tactical rifle / handgun shooting.

I have a couple Jeep Grand Wagoneers and a couple J series trucks (ya gott have a spare for parts) that always seem to need work.

I'm in for an E. Tn shoot, and ya'll don't forget there is a morning Highpower Match at the John Sevier Range in Knoxville this coming Saturday.

Can you e-mail or IM me some details on future matches? I have an AR-10 I'd like to try out at a bit of distance using iron sights only.

Welcome to the Forum!

Jay - Memphis - just built my first AR - a nice unfired SP1/M16 upper on an Ameetec lower - very nice.  I need a place to shoot it now!  Where around Memphis can you go besides MSSA - would love to join, but for the price of a new AR...It's tough to part with that much when it could go for new hardware.

Did anyone organize a Memphis/W TN shoot?  When? Where?

Is it my imagination or is there an inordinate number of IT folks (self included) from TN here?

Probably the nearest affordable place is the TRWA range at Natchez state park.  It might be worth while to take a trip over there one saturday.

Eric - Environmental, Health & Safety Manager

Grew up around Reelfoot Lake in NW TN.  Lived most all my life either there, in Memphis, or Knoville before leaving the Volunteer State 3.5 years ago for a job in Cincinnati.  Having realized the error of my ways and desperately needing to rectify the situation, I am moving back to Tennessee next week - to Jackson, TN, specifically.

Firearms interests are wide-ranging, from WWII and other milsurp to the Five-seveN pistol and lots of stuff in between.  Oh yeah, my Rock River CAR-15 ain't no slouch either!!

Guns show attendance will likely be at Memphis, Nashville, and the infrequent RK shows in Jackson.  Knob Creek is a no-brainer every spring and fall.  I always go on Friday when there's no crowd.  here

Anybody here from Madison County, drop me a line and we'll burn some powder after I get settled in a few weeks.  That is, if I can find a range.  Only one I've seen on the 'net is the private, members-only one in Jackson.

Have you heard of the MG shoots in Camden, TN?  A lot closer to Jackson than KC.

The way some people on this site talk, insurance companies and their agents are WORSE than lawyers and used car salesmen.

Just like everyone else, i never get to shoot enough

Smoky Bottoms range in Hornbeak is nice (roof over your head, lots of benches, well-kept and mowed, plenty of yardage, lots of steel, plenty of CQB scenarios) and I do get to shoot IDPA matches there.  Goodyear Tire plant has a range for members only and i know a few, but it sucks having to depend on others for range time.  Much more fun to meet up when convenient.

Been shooting pistols (1911s) for some time and am relatively new to ARs (year and ahalf), but have already acquired BRD big-time.

Nice to meet everyone.

A long time ago, I was an 11B doing the light infantry thing, then I did a few years in the guard.  I have some education in engineering and mathematics, so I occasionally part-time teach and tutor.  My fulltime gig is a WireEDM programmer/operator.

I have more firearms than trigger time, and I need to work on that.  I sometimes shoot at Guns and Leather in Greenbrier, or on private land.  I did a couple of IDPA matches, but stunk to high heaven.  I keep meaning to get out to the Stones River HEC, but have yet to do so.  If any of you are out at the SRHEC, and you see some guy lugging around a SOCOM 16 in an EBR stock (I have jokingly told buddies that I'm not going to be finished with that thing till I get it up to 20 lbs ) it'll probably be me, if I ever get my b-hind out there.

LOOKING FOR AN OUTDOOR RANGE NEARBY TO SHOOT AND WOULD BE GREAT IF THEY HOLD MATCHES ALSO. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECITATED

THANKS

I just moved out of Gray about 4 months ago. If you want outdoor, try here Vinny, they have a decent size outdoor range (200) plus yards. Mike Murray was running it last I heard, he's a great guy. There are also a few TWRA ran ranges about 30 minutes or so from where you are:

Pond Mountain - Hwy. 321, Carter Co. (423) 735-1500
Scioto - Scioto Road, Unicoi Co. (423) 735-1500
