Do any of you know of any fairly easy off roading near SLC? I'd prefer good scenery over technical off roading. I would like to go out on a nice scenic drive this weekend.

The good news:

Skyline drive is exactly what you seek

The bad news:

Probably not open for a couple months due to snow

Skyline drive is a long "road" with lots of trails branching off. It starts at the "B" in bountiful and ends in Farmington. If I remember correctly, it takes a couple hours to make the drive. Lots of stock trucks and SUVs, tons of quads and dirt bikes. Even saw a couple sedans making the trek. The trail gets pretty narrow at some points so passing oncoming vehicles can get a bit scary if you're new to off-roading, especially when you look over the edge of the cliff and see smashed cars at the bottom. You can also do some shooting up there--just make sure you're on the right land and abide by all the rules and laws.

I second this, I've played with my TJ around there quite a bit. If you check it out and see a white jeep wrangler and someone shooting off the road somewhere, stop by and say hello, it just might be me!
