I'm originally from Utah moved when I was 4 and am now 28, I still have family there and have been back quite a few times over the years to visit. I recently got a job offer after trying for a year or so, not really aggressively pursuing it but if a good enough opportunity came along we'd go for it. And it's looking like it has.

The position will be located a little north of Tremonton, while I've never been to the Tremonton/Garland area aside from flying up and interviewing, I have spent a lot of time in Logan and still have grandparents and family there.

We've been house shopping some and we will be flying out next week, but like most of the country housing is booming and reasonable priced/clean homes are going pretty quick. I really like Hyrum/Nibley/Logan area and have spent a lot of time there, and even Brigham city due the location if I had to change jobs in the future I would not be so tied down to northern Utah. But was more curious about living in Tremonton/Garland, seems the houses are still a little cheaper and it would be a closer commute to work than the Logan area, but still close enough to head to Logan for major shopping, outdoor activities etc...

Any input anyone has will be helpful.

Thanks!

Not sure where you will be working north of Tremonton.  I would stay away from Brigham City... It's just nasty..  My opinion..  Look in Dewyville, Honeyville, Mindon, Garland, and Elwood.  Tremonton is okay.  All pretty quiet up there.

Heh, first I've heard of it being nasty. Always seems ok when driving through. We are looking at putting an offer on a home in Garland, so that's good to hear.

Job is in Plymouth, working with Nucore steel plant, but not actually employed by them.

Brigham is not nasty. Garland and Tremonton and pretty cool, both are 1/2 hour from logan or Brigham for shopping and such. Also there is Bear River city and Corrine if you can stand the mosquitoes and Willard and Perry are very nice as well. Nucore is approximately 45 minutes or so from Brigham so depending on how long of a commute you want , but there will be minimal traffic if that helps. Nucore also has a building in South Brigham. I grew up in Brigham and the whole area has really grown especially Tremonton but it is still a very nice area to live. I myself have thought of moving North to Tremonton or the  Honeyville/Deweyville area. I also really like the Smithfield and Richmond area. Feel free to PM if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the reply, just saw it. We just got back from checking out the house and area. My wife is OK with the small town, since as you mentioned the proximity to Logan and Brigham is 15-30 minutes depending(We both commute an hour each way in Houston to work so that's no big deal). Should hopefully be making the move within a month or so, any decent shooting spots on public land out that way? I've been to some decent spots around Utah over the years but nothing in Northern Utah.

Brigham City isn't bad if you don't mind all the meth heads.  As far as shooting you have three mile creek gun range close by.  And for public land you can drive West 30 mins and shoot out towards Yost.
