As a resident, how likely are you to get a big game tag of some sort every year?

It depends on what type of hunting you like to do and what unit you are applying for.

If you like to archery hunt for deer than you can get a tag virtually every year.

Putting in for rifle or muzzle loader I get a tag every other year for unit 30, but some units are better than that.

It can take a couple of years to draw a cow elk or doe tag as well.

Spike elk and Any bull are over the counter and if you do not procrastinate then you can buy one pretty easily every year.

Some of the limited entry hunts can take 15 years to draw a tag.

Thanks, being from the Midwest I'm used to being able to buy whatever tags I want no questions asked.

We are investigating moving to Utah and hunting is a big thing for me.  I'm used to having family land to kill whitetails and have never been western hunting.  I know it's a different beast entirely.

Really? Did they put in for a limited area? I bought a bull tag just a few days before the hunt started
