You can live in downtown SLC for $600-800 a month in a nice apartment.
Overall it is a nice area to live and very clean.
I'll save my thoughts on the people who can spend any amount of dollars on a rifle but can't devote 20 minutes to getting their body in shape for another thread. -skinnysarge79

I'll second that. Where in the valley will you be working? Might help us point you in a better direction.

Draper is a nice town. You won't be far from a few of us HTF folks.

This might get you started.

Don't let them discourage you. Sugarhouse the other areas next to SLC are only liberal when compared to the rest of the state. In reality they are pretty conservative.

I think you will be surprised by the greenery. In a little less than an hour you can go from Green forests and tall mountains to sand and deserts. The winters have been mostly cold without a lot of snow in the valleys the last few years, but the mountains always get a good amount. The distance to the different terrains is why I love this place.......

It is a world class city for outdoor recreation of all kinds. The city Is semi arid with many alpine areas to the east and desert beyond the rang to the west. It is a big tourist destination for skiing.

Check the law first. Open carry weapon condition varies depending on whether you have a permit or not.

Correct. If you have a CWP you can carry it condition 1.

And if you do not, you must carry it 'Utah unloaded' which consists of it being 2 mechanical actions away from firing.

Welcome to Utah. Try checking out www.ksl.com classified ads for rentals. There is a link for retals under the Homes heading. We're in the American Fork area and we love it, and it's a short commute to Draper. Rentals in the area seem to run anywhere from the low $500s to $900 a month. If you're looking to buy, home prices are still much lower than they were in '08, but they are starting to climb.

In terms of political leanings, Utah County is also a bit more conservative on the whole than Salt Lake County.
