I will be in SLC with my GF and her turning 7 yo daughter over Labor Day weekend.

The girl's b-day is Sept 4, but we will most likely leave Monday morning.

I am looking for some ideas of places to go in the downtown SLC area that would be kid friendly, and places we might go for a b-day dinner.

I was planning on Hogle Zoo on Sunday or Monday morning (we have a wedding to go to on Saturday).

We were planning to stay at the Residence Inn off of 300 South if that matters.

Other than that, I am lost.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Clark Planetarium and Discovery Children's Museum are both at Gateway. The Natural History Museum is a couple of minutes from Hogle Zoo. I've never been but I think you can tour Taffy Town.

My 8 year old enjoys the Benihana type restaurants.

The Alpine Slide is amazing that time of year. Not too far from SLC for a quick ride.

Good advice. The zoo has the potential to be busy on the weekends. Saturdays are nuts, but I don't think Sundays are as bad (but I don't usually drive by it on Sundays either). My kids like other suggestions above as well.

City Creek is a neat place to wander around for a little bit as well. At least the trout in the creek are good for a few minutes of kid entertainment.
