TWO DIE FROM EXPLOSION EAST OF BEND - DESCHUTES COUNTY

News Release from the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office:
On 10-27-15 shortly after 3PM, Deschutes County Sheriff's deputies along with Oregon State Police and Bend Fire Department responded to an explosion at a public range east of Bend.

After arriving, deputies confirmed there were injuries resulting from an explosion inside a World War II era tank. Bend Fire Department paramedics arrived and attempted lifesaving efforts; however, the two injured persons died from their injuries.

This is a joint investigation by the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Detective Division and the Oregon State Police Arson and Explosives Section.

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation. Further information including names will be released as appropriate by the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office.
