If anyone was interested in watching some pulling this year or maybe entering your own vehicle in some stock pulls, I figured I would post up the schedule. We're going to try to hit as many as we can.

Here's a flyer for the Kennewick pull

And here's a few pics of ours for you guys to keep an eye out

I would love to go see them, and just may go when they are close. Haven't been in about 30 years......

Yup, all 4 of those are. Been going there for 20 years. I take it you've been there? We pulled out a win both nights last year.

Yeah, I'm local to the area.  Usually we only go on Sunday, the kids usually like the play area before we watch the monster trucks.  They replaced those stands last year because a tree fell on them when we got all that ice and snow in the 2013/2014 winter.

When I was a kid some thirty years ago my sixth grade teacher did tractor pulls with a modified truck.  He never made a peep about it until one day one of the other kids came in and had pictures of him in the truck.

I was wondering what the deal was with the new bleachers. The monster trucks are usually a good time, try to check out some pulls this year if you can. My dad started in the 80's and has been doing it ever since, this is our newest puller and he built it about 10 years ago.

We're hoping to make it to that one to start our season but with the puller and the trailer being worked on right now I'm not sure if we'll be operatinal that soon.

Hell if I remember. I think it's been in a magazine or poster someplace also. I've been to a few pulls. It's awesome. My truck would be fun to enter in the stock category but I'm sure I'd break something and that's not very fun.

I've seen your truck many times before at the Sublimity Harvest Festival.  Cool! If I see you down there this year, I'll have to come introduce myself now that I know you're a fellow arfcommer.   Now you just need a BFL on the truck somewhere.

Haha....I don't think that would fly with the boss. If it were mine, I would definitely have a bfl. But my father is the driver, I'm just in the pit crew.

I used to pull stock farm tractors back in the day. Now I am just a spectator. I'm a grass seed farmer and I am so dog gone busy at harvest time that I can't ever find the time to do it anymore. But my wife and I always try and make it at least one day to the Sublimity harvest festival just to watch

This was me at the Brooks Steam-Up many years ago.

That's pretty neat, I understand being busy, we farm grass, alfalfa, wheat, and corn and run it between my grandfather, my father, and myself. For the past handful of years we've only been able to make Sublimity but we're going to get as many hooks in as possible in this year.

We were really hoping to make it there but unfortunately we can't be up and running that soon. We are getting our tractor/trailer wrapped and have the front end of the puller torn apart so the Kennewick will probably be our first pull.

Okay, finally got video to work. Yes it's awful cellphone video, but I'm in the pit crew, not the photographer.

As you can hear, we completely lost power at the end, we pulled it back into the pits and it's sitting there pissing out fuel. Come to find out our fuel line had come loose and was spraying more fuel outside of the motor than in, so that doesn't make for much power

But it was still enough to get the win, so we're cleaning it up today and it should be ready to do it again, but a bit better, tonight.

Another video from the stands

The sled was definitely different than we're used to. It was overall just a heavy sled so it took some power to get it going and then when the weight hits the top the axles actually lift up and all the weight is on the skid and it just flat stops people. It was a very nice sled but you have to drive it a certain way.

We didn't bring the power soon enough tonight and got second place, with this sled you need to build your speed as soon as you can. Live and learn.

Do you have a puller?

Extremely easy, we use a pro fab transfer case and you just pop off a handful of small nuts and the cover comes off and you pull 2 gears out of one size and your put 2 gears in of a different size. I'll snap a couple pics when we change them later.

Oh that makes sense.  Was thinking you were going to have to change ring and pinions front and back.  I didn't consider the transfer case as a way to change ratios.

Transfer case closed, minus the nuts.

Open with gears installed

Gears removed,  they just slide on and off and the case keeps them tight and has bearings that the shafts slide into.

The first night at Mollala we got 1st, then we went to the dragstrip and got 1st, then back to Mollala for a 3rd place pull.

We dropped gears to pull at the dragdragstrip and left it in for the second mollala hook and that proved to be a wrong decision. We never gained much mid-track speed. It's been a lot of years since we've gotten as low as 3rd.

We did see someone harvesting grass between mollala and woodburn, could that have possibly been you? Or are you futher off the main road?

We have around 1250 acres we harvest in that area. Most of it between Molalla and Woodburn. Some of it is along the hiway and some is further off the beaten path.  However yesterday we were further south down Hwy 213 toward Marquam. So it wasn't us.  We have been running the two Deere 9500's in grass and the Case IH 1688's in wheat.

Oh I gotcha...yeah this was an older combine and I think it was orange, but I'm not sure on that. I didn't recognize it.

I have never been in that area and the landscape is pretty amazing. Just flat fields completely lined by thick tree lines and everything is super green. There was an old school tractor pull on saturday too, just outside of Mollala. Did you hear anything about that? They were pulling a blue sled. There was a car show too, seemed like a busy weekend.

Yeah it's a fairly close knit community. I know just about all the farmers between Molalla and Woodburn.  I'm guessing the combine you seen was the guy that has the old Massey Ferguson 750.

I had quite a few friends that pulled at the old school tractor pull you saw.  I used to do it myself back when I wasn't so busy with grass seed harvest.

I probably also know some of the folks locally that pull against you guys with the modifieds. One of them has a Ag Liming business and is partnered up with a guy who's last name is shared with a cowboy hat company. I don't really know either of them real well, other than for the reason that we are all locals to the area.

Yup, very familiar with him. I was curious where he was located, guess this pull must have been in his backyard.

Pull tonight and tomorrow night in Sublimity. Tomorrow will have monster trucks as well.

This is usually the biggest one of the year for us. They went and ripped the track as deep as they could so it's not going to be great for pulling. But we'll do what we can.

I'm not going to be able to make it out this year. Too much family business going on this weekend. It's unfortunate. It will be the first time I have missed the harvest fest in years. Good luck with your pull.

Here's a video from the first night, this was actually the very first time I got to pull. So in this video is my maiden voyage of Lethal Injection at 6:30.

I was kind of nervous but was really unsure of how to feel the motor, so I came out a little lazy and that cost me a few feet. It was a hell of a good time though.

Much more exciting sitting in the seat than it is sitting in the stands, that's for sure.
